Recently picked up a rose gold Panerai Ferrari that has parts of the plating worn through. So far I've been unable to find anyone willing to refinish the case (if you have any recommendations, please let me know), so I'm considering teaching myself a new skill and attempting to replate it myself. I've done a bit of research, and consider myself fairly capable of following directions to get this done...but I fear I may be underestimating the difficulty of the task. Is this something I should even attempt? Pics for reference.

Many things are not difficult but might not be worth doing. This may be one of those things.

Plating is not terribly difficult but, as with so many things, there will be sunk costs and a learning curve before you get it just right.

If your goal is to replate one or two watches, I think your most stress free and cost effective strategy is to have someone do it for you.

If you just want to do it, I understand because I’m that way myself, there are many tutorials online.

This is not something I'd consider a DYI project. I'm a big fan of staying in your lane and letting the pros do what they do.

If you decide to go DIY- please document your journey. Would love to see it
