In the June 2016 issue of WatchTime on page 34 there is an article that states that Swiss movement maker Ronda is returning to the mechanical movement business. They are introducing a mechanical automatic "Mecano" R150 that will be available on the mass market and not restricted like ETA has done. So is this the movement we may see in future reps?
This movement is apparently a direct replacement for the 2824. Priced at approximately $65 US Ronda hopes to start out making several 10s of thousands and ramp up production to several 100s of thousand units.
It looks like a quality movement, who knows maybe they will make a 2836 replacement.
