Hi all,

Quick question - I tried searching but couldn't find the answers (waaay too many results).
What is TT, LV, TW, LW, etc when speaking about subs?

TT = Two-Tone, LV= Lunette Verte Green bezel in French

Here is a whole list taken from a different Rolex forum:


a/H: Alternations per hour (back-and fro movement of the balance).
AK: Air King.
AR: Anti-reflective.
bpH: Beats per hour.
Cal.: Calibre (watch movement).
CLV: Ceramic bezel insert Submariner Date LV
COSC: Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres" (Independent chronometer testing institute).
DD: Day-Date.
DJ: DateJust.
DSSD: Deepsea Sea-Dweller.
GMT: Greenwich Mean Time.
GMTIIc: GMTII with ceramic bezel insert.
GV: Glace Verte (green-edged crystal on the Milgauss)
GO: Glashütte Original
HEV: Helium Escape Valve (on SD and DSSD/SDDS)
LEC: Laser Etched Coronet (on Rolex crystals from about 2001 and onwards).
LN: Lunette Noir (black bezel insert of the GMT II)
LV: Lunette Verte (green bezel insert on the 50th. anniversary Submariner Date).
LVC: Ceramic bezel insert Submariner Date LV
MG: Milgauss
MOP: Mother Of Pearl
OP: Oyster Perpetual (on forums it can also mean "Original Poster" = threadstarter)
OQ: Oyster Quartz
PAM: Panerai Model (abbreviation also officially used by Panerai; for instance "PAM00233")
PCL's: Polished Centre Links (credit: "karmatp" / Trevor)
PN: "Paul Newman" (popular name for a special Daytona dial)
PR: Power Reserve.
PT: Platinum
RBR: Rolex Branded Rehaut ("ROLEXROLEX" on the rehaut, i.e.: the angled edge running around the dial of some Rolex watches).
RG: Rose Gold
RRR: ROLEXROLEXROLEX (like "RBR" above; credit: "Xelor" / Jeff)
RSC: Rolex Service Center
SD: Sea-Dweller.
SDDS: Sea-Dweller Deepsea.
SEL: Solid End Link (referring to bracelet attachment onto case).
SL: Super-LumiNova.
SS: Stainless Steel.
ToG: Turn-O-Graph.
Tr.: Tritium
TT: Two-Tone (yellow gold & stainless steel combo).
WG: White Gold
WR: Water Resistant / Water Resistance.
YG: Yellow Gold
YM: Yacht Master

Obviously some of those aren't Rolex specific!

For some reason I always think of the cartel dealer that used to be here when I see TW. That or Tiger Woods.

Seems like I read that Wm9 helped set that TW factory up with the tooling to make sub cases that HE used in the Wm9TW....and now BK uses that same case....I am prolly wrong though....I think it also is the ONE case that will take a GEN dial and has GEN like bezel construction.

You are thinking of TWP, The Watch Prince



Seems like I read that Wm9 helped set that TW factory up with the tooling to make sub cases that HE used in the Wm9TW....and now BK uses that same case....I am prolly wrong though....I think it also is the ONE case that will take a GEN dial and has GEN like bezel construction.

Roughly correct mate.

Thanks for that , i would be great if someone could make a sticky with lots of Acronym's for all watches and models ... :band:

I received a PM the other day regarding a DSSD and was thinking Morse Code would have been easier ..... :facepalm:

As many times as the acronym issue has come up I'm pretty sure there already is a thread. I don't know if it's been stickified or not but seems like it has.
