Rolex Rep VS Steinhart

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has ever had both a good Rep Rolex, and a Steinhart for comparison. Steinhart obviously takes some (all) of its styling cues from Rolex. They're on the same price point as a good TC Sub for most of the Ocean line. Are the Chinese up to the Germans/Swissies in terms of quality yet? Thanks!

I've never had a Steinhart, but you know the movement will be a nice Swiss eta and the watch will be WR as stated.
But the TC sub is a nice watch and if you service the Asian 2824-2 and check it for WR, it should give you just as good service as a Steinhart and besides, it says ROLEX!

Steinhart is very impressive quality. I had the OVM. Sold it and now wear mostly vintage Rolex reps. I prefer the traditional size of vintage Rolex much more.

U.K.
there is no doubt Steinhart are super value for your buck I'm pretty suprised there hasn't been a price rise on the Ocean 1 this year because it's held its price for awhile now and we all know the cost of building watches have gone up due to metals and movements are pretty penny now, so fair play but I feel it won't be long it does go north about $25-$50 soon is my guess. another company which I feel is good value although dearer in price is the UK Christopher Ward, they do a Trident range and in the skeme of things 5 years warranty movement policy is pretty good with free returns policy, so yeah there is good choices out there, Steinhart resell value is near original price so if you was unlucky you may be less at 20% on the Ocean One and Christopher Ward are simular swings of 20-25%, so if you think about it they are pretty good in there own right because you can sell very openly on watch forums and e-bay etc,but then again nearly all can buy original Omega's on finance these days say a PO is £4k and you do 10% £400 then have 36 payments of £100 a month with a 3 year intrest free payment makes it very easy to be a owner. So now back to reps if you get a lemon then you pretty stuck or if you get one seized by customs you may lose your purchase unless TD or M2M comes to a compramise

If you are thinking of getting a steinhart? Get one buddy because I really do think the price will go up a bit soon.So it's all food for thought my advice keep all avenues open :)

Steinhart sells good watches for the money but their Ocean cases have got a horrible side profile. They are far too flat. IMO this is an ugly look. SELs also do not fit very well.
If you are looking for a very decent sub homage you should save up some money and have a look on the latest Davosa Ternos and Davosa Ternos pro.

Pics of the pro model. 42mm with He-valve.

The new Steinhart Ocean One Vintage that pays homage to the Rolex 6200 looks the best from their range to me.. the high dome sapphire, beveled lugs, lug holes, and nice dial aging really come together. Love the case profile on it.

if the Steinhart OVM was 40mm instead of 42mm I would have bought one a few years back. My friend has an OVM, I have a tc V6, build quality looks to be on par. Though his is on a Nato so I could not comment on bracelet/sel.
