Hi guys,
I'm interested in buying a gem oysterquartz with a broken movement and swapping it out for an aftermarket one.
Does anyone have any idea of what and where to buy?
Unfamiliar with quartz movements.

Thanks :)

Dunno about rolex..

but swap in a bulova precisionist quartz movement only seen it done once before

The hand movement sweeps smoother than any movement and the bulova super seville hands look very similar to the old rolex

That's a hard piece to find parts for but they are cool watches and I'd spend the money to fix it correctly. My first stop would be a local high end watch maker and go from there.

You need a quartz movement that also makes a loud ticking noise in order to be accurate. The gen oysterquartz 5035 and 5055 movement makes a loud ticking noise each second.

I have a gen 17013 at home and I haven't seen another quartz watch movement that ticks as loud though. Maybe someone else here can chime in.

How much are you paying for a non-working one? You can get a gen working one for as little as £1500

Oh yea and RSC service for an Oysterquartz cost a lot of money even for a working one. So be financially prepared, I have seen people being quoted £1000 for an overhaul here in Hong Kong for a working one (movement service + parts + new dial + new bezel+ new glass)

Thanks for your input guys, the watch is currently bidding on eBay, hopefully under £800 for the watch in its current state!
I'll delve deeper
Not too worried about the sound to be honest but would like the smooth action
Thanks guys, I'm never made to feel stupid here!
