Rolex GMT 3285 movement v VR3186 clone

Could one of the members explain for this new member why factories such a Clean are putting VR3186 movements in the new generation of Rolex GMT’s namely 126710 and not a 3285 clone movement? Is it because the VR3186 is a proven GMT movement and the A3285 movements are not reliable.

Pretty much what you said. The 3186 is proven Gen spec. Parts interchangeable with Gen. 3285 is a decorative piece made to look like a 3285. Hands aren’t even interchangeable with Gen. there’s rumours of a Gen spec 3285 on the horizon so keep an eye out.
