Rolex Daytona Sub Dial Pointer fell off

I just received this watch about a week ago from silix-prime.com and the sub dial pointer fell off. Rather than the hassle of sending it back, I was wondering if it is an easy fix to take it apart and put the pointer back on.

BTW, I have had other watches apart ...no problems. I have a watch repair tool kit too. I just don't want to void a warranty by taking it apart, but if it is an easy fix I will do it.

Any input on this would be appreciated, please look at the photo and see the problem.

If you have a set of hand pressers it shouldn't be a problem. You just have to be very careful :)

That's a 21j version right?

If so, and if you're confident that you can uncase the movement without damaging it, that's an easy fix. Like Bonesy says, just be careful.

A hammer and nails would fix that right up... :lolcina:

Sorry to hear about the trouble..

I will get it done. Should I put a small dot of superglue on it? Or will that end up causing the glass to fog even if I let it dry thoroughly? Any other suggestions on stopping it from falling off again ...other than the hammer idea lol?

No need to de-case the movement. Pop the bezel and crystal, replace hand, and if you want apply a dot of epoxy to the top where the little hole is in the hand - no superglue! You can see it here in this pic:

When done just place crystal and gasket back on the case and press home the bezel.

You make it sound easy, but isn't the bezel pressed on? How do I get it off without scratching the finish ...and how do I get it on without a press? It sounds simple but I don't want to get started and damage the finish.

BTW, I was an auto mechanic for years and very adept at disassembly, etc. of things.

The bezel is easily removable by carefully working a razor blade between it and the case and working carefully around it "levering" it off. You need the $10 Harbor Freight press to put the bezel back on but I have better luck with that than a21j keyless works!

Roger - Thanks! I really like it and it went into the first Franken I ever built.

Great! I took your advise and worked the bezel off, fixed the pointer, pressed the bezel back on with harbor freight's $12.95 press.

Thanks for the great advise; much appreciated.
