Hi - the purchasing process went as well as it could. Very timely responses. Acceptable time to receive from order to delivery.
But - and there is an associated post - the gold plated band has very, very unacceptable plating. Awful. And, the watch stopped keeping time. This all happened in a very short period of time. The plating on one half of the band is quite impressive. The band that starts at 12 o'clock and up through the clasp is ridiculously bad.
Throughout the process, JTime (Li) was been super fast to respond and gave some suggestions along with a request to see a picture of the band. After looking at the band, they responded.
Jtime's response was to say they'd never seen a band wear in this way and that the watch needed to be taken to a repair place and possibly de-magnetized. They offered to send me the name of a repair place that could re-plate the band and look at the movement. There was no offer of help or attempt to resolve the situation.
I sent an email expressing my disappointment, and a notice I would be keeping RWI updated, and two more emails that were requests for info on the watch and the possibility of purchasing a band replacement.
The last three emails have not been responded to, however, I'm not sure if it's been long enough to think I've been ghosted - but - it is a departure from the speed at which past replies were sent.
I've not seen any other posts with my same issue and members commented it was the worst they'd ever seen - so - this isn't a warning to avoid the products being sold by this TD but rather a head's up that if something should like this occur to you, don't expect any help. In my case, I would have thought that the purchase of a higher dollar rep (APSF $778 ish before fees/shipping) would have, at the very least, kept time.
I know this is a gamble and, in future, I'll not deal with them again despite knowing this was most likely a plating 'fluke.' I might, also, be wary of AP movements. I'm half tempted to open the back and see if the advertised movement is actually in the watch. Not a bad idea because, if it's not as compared to QC pictures, I would have more leverage in negotiating some sort of assistance. No apology was offered.
I'll update this if/when I hear from them again. For all I know, they are working on my behalf to get a resolution and it's taking a bit of time. Hopeful but very, very doubtful.
I've looked through every TD site, and every repair place, listed in the forum, and haven't been able to source a new band or find a repair shop that could manage this in the next couple of years. It seems many repair referrals might not even be operating. I'll look for local gold plating options but I still need a clasp, one link and a couple of pins. A litte help?
