Hiya,

I've purchased a Daytona 116500 from PureTime (I'm in the UK), it is taking a long time to get here but by the looks it should arrive tomorrow. I've tried googling but can't find the correct size case back removal tool for it. Anyone know the size? I can buy a whole kit from Aliexpress for around £10 (not sure if they're worth it or not though) but I'm curious about the size.

Many thanks

Shane

The correct size is "No. 5" which is 29.5mm. It's in this set by Hedapai:

Price seems to vary, I think I paid about £20 for the exact same set.
There you go, a used set for £20:

thanks for this, I've seen these type of balls before but wasn't sure if they worked or not :)
Very welcome Sir,

What @p0pperini has linked in there are the proper tools, I just havent bothered yet as the ball does the trick so far, but when it doesn't I'll get something similar to the other tools.

Perfect, thankyou P0pperini! I'll check that set out as well. I'm sitting here waiting for my watch to arrive today! :)

I use the same. 20 Euro from eBay. They’re perfect.

I've got the ball and I've used balled up tape, and neither was ever a reliable method for me. So I quickly moved on to "the right tools for the job"!

Cousins also do a really good suction tool, kinda like using a ball but FAR more effective. In fact this is the one I use more than anything else now, because it's also the "gentlest" tool (no metal on metal contact, which is the only disadvantage of the Hedapai tool).

The handle is £12 and then you buy an appropriate size suction cup.

I didn't mention it before now because I wrongly remembered it being a lot more expensive!

I've just bought a set now, £21 from Amazon, delivered tomorrow :) Could have got them through Aliexpress for £16 but would have to wait 6 weeks to 3 years! haha
Since the Covid situation started relaxing, I noticed that many 3 Euro Ali items that used to get on a boat ride for 8 years are now being posted by air and arrive within 8, sometimes even just 7 days.

I guess ship capacities are not available atm due to a backlog, so at some point it may go back to the 8 year shipping MO. 😂

STOP THE PRESSES! (Oh no wait, we're talking openers, not presses... little watch modding joke there.)

I just spotted this at Cousins:

Effectively the same as the Hedapai setup, but £11!

I was just looking at Amazon & Aliexpress & was thinking that Amazon seems to be just an outlet for Aliexpress items with a 20-30% markup for quicker delivery times. Driving up north on the M1 yesterday I noticed more very large Amazon warehouses being built.

They litterally build one 5 kms from my house 3 years ago. I've never received a single Amazon item from there since then though. 😂😂😂
