What on earth would make you think they would bother to rodium plate the bezel?when they can leave it SS and save money on production costs.

I only got mine a week ago, so still very early day, but looking fine.

There have been several threads about this and I couldn't believe it either but the consensus was that ARF does put a thin plating of rhodium on their fluted bezels. And yes there have been multiple reports of it flaking off. I'm sure it's some composite mix of metals that aren't the best quality, but the fact that it's flaking proves it's plated with something. SS doesn't flake off.

As far as fixing it, any jeweler should be able to replate it, it's not very expensive. White gold rings, etc are usually plated with rhodium. It's a common task.

I lightly polished mine with a cape cod cloth and lost some finish, overall it actually looks way better but in certain light can see it looks almost a little blue, under a loupe you can see the copperish color coming through. Gonna probably have the rhodium treated at some point

I brush mine daily and have Cape cod polished it. No problems here.

Ya I used a metal polish and took the playing off, got an new one and as delicate as I could used a cape cod Cloth and it still took a tiny bit off. Really only notice it your over peticular..... I notice. Trying to find out how to have it treated. I Imagine it’s just like a white gold ring. Anybody have a source please let me know

So after comparing with the gen I think a plating mod is a must . Anyone knows if the bezel can be easily taken off and installed back without the help of a modded ? Thanks

Hi guys, i am back here after owning the arf datejust for slightly over a year and it seems that there is a copper plating of some sort. The bezel recently started to flake and i can see some sort of greenish oxidation occuring.

Holy shit, I was just about to order an ARF 41... so since a gen bezel is pretty expensive, the whole watch is kind of a timebomb (and not only the movement), isn’t it?

is there any way to prevent oxidation on copper?

Not that i know off...it probably happened due to wear and exposure to the environment (water, sweat). I think this is a pretty huge flaw as the fluted bezel is supposed to be white gold and it would be pretty expensive to replace.
