Hello all,

Have a ebay private seller who has a red line 1680 dial. Quote is 1600 USD. Could anyone with better eyes than me tell me if its any good?
My thoughts -
- The coronet looks a little off. Not sure if its the shape or the height.
- The distance between the 12 marker and coronet - I have seen some dials that are much much closer
- Red line is the right color as far as i can see
- F in feet is slightly longer than my white service dial

I might be reading too much here but any inputs would be great

I’m just learning about vintage rolex but seeing as nobody has answered…..
Isn’t a gen mint condition 1680 red dial worth way way more than $1600 ?

So the price right there says this is a redial or rep ect.

If you are getting a replica or refinished dial did you get a price from MQ yet?
I assumed his dials were generally the best and around $350-$450???

Asking because I’m interested myself to see what the Rolex experts say.

You are correct. Gen dials in good condition are worth a lot more and two kidneys. I did find out that this particlaur seller was a scam and he was selling what is commonly known as Richview dials (Canadian seller who re does viet dial). These dials can be bougt for 200$ or less directly from him. MQ dials are better in quality. I have a quote from MQ for a dial and matching hands for 800 including shipping. They are considered the best of the after market dial but still hit or miss when compared to gen.

I think i might just give up and use the fraken i bought here which is now 98% gen. Only the case is after market.

Just to comment on what I consider signs of non-genuine printing:

Draw a horizontal line directly under ROLEX; underlining the word. For a genuine dial none of the serifs will pass through this line. For this dial the serifs on the L and E will pass through this line.

Thanks for the tip. That is a good and handy guide when checking at dials online
