Good day everyone! I got the opportunity to do some Frankens and now have the good fortune to share closeup photos of two sets of VSF and gen dial comparisons, so that they may be added to the gorgeous repository of knowledge that is RWI.
This will be another intuitive visual aid, rather than a comprehensive written manuscript.
Here are four watches, all VSF, but two with gen dials and two with rep. One set is blue, while the other set is silver.
Blue Dial:
• Fluted is all rep
• Smooth is gen dial, dw, bezel and crystal
What differences do you notice?
Silver Dial:
A genuine silver dial (seen outside in a container) was fitted onto a VSF 126334 stock watch. Below you will see differences between rep and gen dial.
The VSF dial has SWISS CROWN MADE in bold
The genuine dial has SWISS 30 MADE in light font.
Both are seen in gen.
The VSF date window is whiter, while the gen date window is silver and darker.
There are colour differences as well; gen is more champagne while rep is darker and more silver.
There are other differences as well, what can you spot?
Overall, I would say VSF is 95% of the way there and ABSOLUTELY worth the coin. Yes, better than CF. I'll say it! Hahaha!
The silver franken is the best bang for the buck, and the blue the most costly in my opinion.
Neither are truly worth doing unless you're bonkers for details.
Thank you for reading this far, and for the opportunity to be in this community.
Stay safe and be well!
Cheers RWI family
