Ever since I got into Panerai, I was quickly drawn to the history behind the brand. My journey began in the modern replica world (251*now sold*, 292, and 186(with vintage-ized hands and mag-less crystal)). My first vintage taste was a Getat Cali sandwich fantasy watch with a skeleton movement. I do love that watch, but I needed something branded. After joining this forum, I had to get a proper vintage piece. You guys have some mad skills and before I could even come close to thinking about building my own model, I needed a physical watch in front of me to help guide my dreams. Like other things on the internet, you can only flip though photos for so long until you are forced to have the real thing Back to vintage watches...In comes River with his offerings.
It was a difficult choice, but I finally chose the 6154. It had to be mine. By no means do I not appreciate the other vintage pieces, but if I had to choose ONE model, this was it. I could have gone with a member's sale, but I wanted something offered by a dealer and modified to my liking. I had him drill out the lugs and include his GPF buckle long tail strap. I kicked myself for not having him make the hands tall, but I can live with the standard fair.
River is a top notch seller. Period. Not only was the transaction smooth and flawless, but the guy went as far as provide me with freebies after he forgot to include the solid case-back(don't go asking for freebies, now ). The only issue with the watch was the hour hand that wasn't pressed in enough. No problem. I did have to disassemble the watch but I easily pressed it back in without a hitch. The only modification I think I'll do is replace the crown with an Athaya offering. The font on this one is not pronounced enough for my liking.
Enough blabbing, on to the porn.

I have edited this thread because the layout of the pics made impossible the reading.
