Hi everyone!
I am relatively new to the repwatch world, but after a lot of research and looking at photos I have noticed that ladies' rep watches are not up to par as larger version. I understand that the market is less lucrative for the factories as most who buy repwatches are men. Despite that I wanted to try to get a watch that was closer to gen than straight from the factory. I looked through 5-6 trusted dealer websites and really loved the RG + chocolate dial combo. However none of the factories can get it correctly, even the best ones for this size. Gen has this gorgeous deep, dark cool brown. While reps are lighter, more reddish almost like a dark brick and that did not look appealing to me.
After reading many posts here, I saw that Legend was very familiar with AP and contacted him to see if he would work on a smaller sized watch for me.
Timeline
12/13 - reached out to Legend and paid for a ZF RG 33mm RO + services: custom dial, replating to get the rose gold tint correct, he also did a brushing/refinishing to get it less pink and service/tune up at the end.
1/12 - dial finished, color looked great, much, much cooler deep brown
1/20 - Watch complete, color of dial and replating was done based on a gen 33 RG RO that he had access to. Just the refinishing and service to go
1/27 - Watch shipped
2/3 - Watch received
The watch is absolutely gorgeous. I love the color of the dial with the subtle sunburst effect and the color of the rose gold is perfect, a hint of pink without looking coppery. I have an unmodded ZF in steel and I notice the increased brush work/sheen on the dial, head and bracelet. It works perfectly and I love the quartz because the watch itself is very thin (7mm thickness). I feel confident wearing this watch out and about.
I think what was just as good as this watch was the communication from Legend. He was courteous throughout our entire conversation. Since I was new to all this he taught me a lot on what to look for, which mods are worth it and which may not be needed. For example I wanted to change the bezel. He asked politely why the bezel and, honestly I didn't know. It was extrapolated thinking from Rolex mods where bezel replacement is common. He said that the AP rep bezel is good enough and he will make sure all the screws are aligned for me etc. So in addition to being a wonderful modder he was a great teacher as well and I didn't feel ever that he was trying to upsell me on mods.
I am very happy with the purchase and will definitely be doing another once I find a style that I like. I wear the watch a lot and sneak looks at it at work haha
