Hi guys,
I just received my watch from a TD yesterday, just wanted to share my thoughts and pics on the watch which is a BP 2836-2 version.
First and foremost, I have to admit, I found this watch beautiful. It feels so much more solid and better than the Milgauss or Daytona which I bought as well.
The watch itself feels solid and looks awesome. Before purchasing I heard that a lot of people have issues with the pearl not being centered so I made sure to tell the TD about this before even the QC pics arrived. All in all the pearl looks good but the only downside to what I noticed is that the pearl isn't the Noob version whereby it is a double dome shape. Click here if you want to know what I'm talking about. But I think the Sub No date doesn't currently have any version of that pearl anyway. Also, crown is colored greyish white and not platinum as per gen.
After removing the links, I noticed that the engravings at the watches are very nicely done. "Stainless Steel" on this side
And "Original Rolex Design 116610" on the other. This I think is wrong because that's the model number of the Submariner (with date) which sort of pi$$es me off a bit because it's something simple which could have been easily rectified to make this watch better.
The engravings at the side of the bezel are done nicely as is the serial number at the 6 o'clock mark. Also the location of the Rolex crown etched on the crystal is present. I don't think it's etched in a dotted manner as per the original but it's still quite faint (but not that accurate)
The strap is done nicely, I like the Glidelock clasp which was not present in the Milgauss or Daytona. I also think the Rolex wordings were more brown than black but nothing which can't be fixed easily.
Looking closely, you can notice the engravings on the inside of the strap (where it meets the bezel). Love the detail but again, if they can get this right, why can't they get the model engraving right? Ugh.
Here it is on my wrist. I have an embarrassingly small wrist (which does not mean anything at all
) but it's a snug fit and looks great.
The clasp fits perfectly, I absolutely love how tight together it closes and the links are all solid.
From the side, you can see the crown has a nice engraving of the logo with tiny dots (not larger ones on some models)
The bottom of the watch looks normal, nothing too much that can go wrong here.
And a lume shot. I read that it's supposed to be blue, some reviews of the gen watch say it's a bluish green. It looks bluish green to me and it's a decent lume which also happened to be applied neatly on the markers.
Conclusion
I actually really love this watch. There are minor flaws nonetheless but I feel that it really is pretty difficult to spot. I was honestly very pleased with the quality even though I can get quite sensitive about obvious flaws which I felt were minor.
All in all, I have no regrets, I feel this is a beautiful watch and I'll wear it with pride!
Do let me know your thoughts and critiques, I'll learn from them and will try to make better reviews in future.
Cheers!
