Hi guys long story cut short is I sent a watch back to a dealer in China because the wrong movement was sent and it also ended up DOA. I sent it tracked but after 2 months its still saying it is in Beijing. I'm not creating a fuss but what happens if it gets lost in the post? I mean I cant exactly put a claim in with Royal Mail that they lost my rep. Would a dealer usually split the cost paid for the watch or am I at a loss here?

Great question. I've had some long wait times, too but have been lucky returning watches to China so far. Subscribed.

It will take long time for them to receive your return watch, generally, as my experience, it will take about one month, sometimes, it may lost during the delivery. I think you should contact your buyer to share the lost, or if you pay by Paypal and they don't want to share, you can contact paypal about this issue, i think you can take your money back~ importantly, it is the buyer's fault, because they shipped you a wrong movement.

By buyer I think you mean dealer.... I've contacted Royal Mail and they tell me they have no more record of it after it reached Beijing. Dealer is also not being too helpful when I asked if he would share the cost of the watch, kept saying he hasnt got the watch when I asked him what do we do if it doesnt arrive and now hasnt replied.

Do not take his advice about contacting PP! This should never be done without approval from a mod. Period!

I think you should read rules first before advising others.
It's good for everybody.

Sould be registered tracking. Once it´s in China disappears in the big black hole and after some weeks magically re-emerges (without tracking update).

Def sorry to hear you're dealing with this. Unfortunately this situation happens pretty often. It will stop showing any tracking updates once it arrives in China, but usually will show up. Two months is a pretty long time already though. I would give it a few more days and see if it shows up, otherwise try reaching out to the dealer again. And if they choose to ignore you, reach out to one of the MODS here on the forums for help.

Shipping in, and to, China is a gamble. Back when I was teaching at a college I did a "send a letter t a friend" writing assignment. Using domestic mail we had over 20% loss rate.

For packages what happens id that the deliverer will leave the package with a nearby business that he can find and then call the receiver and if they answer they will tell then where their package has been left; this is why a phone number is essential as part of the address when shipping in China.

Over half of my postal mail has been lost; however, I fixed that by going to the post office and introducing myself to the manager and telling him that I want my mail. Now I get my mail, and the mail for any foreginer in the city that they cannot find (I do not know them I give the package to the police and I have no idea where it goes from there).

There is a way to send mail reliably in China. Send it with postage due, or COD, then they will find the receiver and stand there while I run to the ATM and get money (however, most have an ATM card reader on their cart at this point).

Postage in China really is a third world country experience.

What a bunch of shit to have to go through, all because the dealer sent you the wrong movement.

agreed fortis. I would have it serviced then put it up for sale. Much easier and a lot less hassles. Then buy the one you originally wanted.

not being too helpful???? I personally gone to the postal office 3 fakin times for you. You insisted i have to check with the postal office when i told you the postman hasn't delivered your package. I kept reminding you i will let you know when it arrive!

no reply!??!? Which of your messages to me i didn't reply you!? You asked me what should we do if package is missing, wtf did i tell you! I told you call up your postal office and request for an investigation. They will contact china post and would reply with an answer. Than we can decide what to do next..

Last question you asked me, which i not yet to reply you becuase i was asleep. Message was to refund you 50% if it is missing, and balance refund if package arrived? Seriously i have never heard of such proposal for seller. So means to say, i lost the product and still have to bear 50% of it for you? I not yet to reply this message, here you are started this thread.

I wonder to myself now why didn't i block you on whatsapp all this while!

TimeWillTell, this whole thing started because you sent your customer the wrong movement (it's on you to provide what the customer ordered), so yes you should provide a full refund as you can see very well the watch has been sent back to you. So even if the China post does lose it you should bear the cost not the buyer.

Timewilltell... I am getting a bit sick of this attitude to be honest.

I told you that Royal Mail has told me no more record of the parcel after 30th Jan is on their system, that since it has been 2 months from sending the watch I should file a lost parcel claim (which of course I cannot do). I asked you if you could contact China Mail via telephone? I also messaged you on the 22nd March that in the case of IF the watch does not arrive can we split the difference, unless you slept from the 22nd til today 24th then you still haven't replied to this message (I do keep all my messages).

And yes as others have stated, I asked for a watch with a particular movement which was also dead on arrival. To service this hybrid rubbish movement would cost me £100 so I sent it back to you at my cost £10.

So I dont think I am being unreasonable to ask to split the cost of the watch if it doesnt arrive when:

A. You sent the wrong movement
B. I sent the dead watch back to you at my cost when I shouldn't of had to to begin with
