Repair options for VSF 8900 PO

I really like this watch. It stopped running, I sent it to one of our trusted techs and he did not have the part to repair the movement. My TD said that it is very unlikely I could get a replacement movement from VSF.

I would love to put an ETA movement in. I am not worried about what it would look like through the caseback, but I don't know if one would fit the case, date spacing and the hands. If someone has done it, please tell me which ETA movement and what considerations.

I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

I wound it today after having it sit for a couple of months and it started running. No idea how. It may be able to work with just a service. Who services these?

My biggest fear with these super clone movements, lack of parts availability. My suggestion is just to go through the list of watch Smiths on the forum here who are in your part of the world and see if anyone's willing to service it. As far as swapping the movement, I have no idea if the date wheel would transfer over or if the pinion size is the same as any regular movement for the hands. I agree that's the best option if it was possible. You might want to post in the Omega section as well to see if anyone has tried this or has any better information. Best wishes!

I had the same Problem with a vs3235.
The problem was the balance bridge was clogged with a very small particle that pressed the spring down too much and it didn't move. Was an easy fix.

Is this not just a decorated 2824 with glued on bridges and whatnot, like VSF is doing in SMP series?

Here is a teardown of a VSF 8500 super clone. As said above it's a mishmash of custom pieces and parts from standard movements like a 7750.

It might be worthwhile to send it to a different forum watchsmith just to see if by chance they can replace the offending part and get the movement moving again. If it's not a standard part from an ETA movement then your options unfortunately will be very limited unless they can fabricate the broken component or have a dead movement on hand they can harvest the part from. I would send out queries too a few different watchsmiths to see if any of them have successfully worked on those movements before you send it out
