hi watchfriends,

let me know what are you working and are you wearing your watches in your job ?

what does your colleagues think about your watches ( rep or gen ) ?

i`m selling cars and my clientele expect i´m so successful and can afford me lot of expensive watches

but if somebody asked me if my watch is real or not i tell him that is a very good rep.....i will don`t lie about my watches, because if i will meet a expert it will be a disgrace

my colleagues knows that i´m collector of rep´s.....

have a nice day...

best regards
derkai

My co-workers collect reps and we are all in on the game however in my sales field, fine art, I run into many who own fantastic genuine watches, and who knows, some of them are also reps, but I never let on that mine are reps, and it is clear that they assume I am wearing a gen as the question has never been broached. It is no problem for me, but if asked directly, I would 'come clean'. :D

Hambone, your situation is perfect for wearing rep. They fit right into your professional environment; a watch worth 22 grand ( ) next to a pair of statues worth $140,000. I doubt many of the people you run into would ever question whats on your wrist.

In my job most of my colleagues are wearing gen dive watches and since I own gens also they assume that all my watches are gen. We take our watches deep and because I do not trust most reps to be water tight past the swimming pool, I typically wear a Seiko or an Invicta while diving. I have dived in a couple of reps out of curiosity, one went well, one ended badly.

In my job I wear camouflage, and no one has ANY idea what my rep or gen watches are. They all know that I love watches, and that I'm always wearing a new one. When I have something they like the look of, they can appreciate it and compliment me, but they can't believe someone would pay even five hundred dollars on a watch. If I don't bring attention to the watch, no one notices what it is. By the way, with the "business attire" I wear these days, I can't wait to get my PVD BR03-92 (with the orange lettering!), it should look fantastic! My specific job is quite unique in the military, and requires that I also wear formal (tuxedo-like) uniforms often. This gives me a chance to wear many of my watches without looking like an idiot (ie the previously mentioned B&R with a tuxedo!) while still at work. I think if I ever bump into someone who actually knows what the watch is on my wrist, I'll speak candidly about the watch. These days I don't even mention if it's a gen or not, I just talk about the watch itself. No one I know cares enough. I'm rambling now...it's in my nature... :D

I mix and match gens and reps. I am in consulting, and always wear a gen when meeting a new client. The reps only come out when there aren't any watch buffs around. I love the way the reps look, but don't want to run the risk of having a "rep" conversation with someone that I am developing a new business relationship with. Once we know each other, that is a different deal ---- I'm amazed at the quality of reps and love showing them off!

mix of gens and reps. I work as a concept artist for tv and film... but no one seems to care about what's on my wrist :(

most know i have mix of reps and gens, but they have zero interest in it and it's "just a watch" to them regardless :(

*Edit* Posted in the Wrong thread  .

As for work, the guys I work with most don't give a crap what I'm wearing, there is a guy who does care... a lot, trust me we talk watches EVERY work day, which is pretty cool, and a few others around me like to see which watch I chose to go to work with :) . They don't know they're reps, since I mix and match w/gens either way. I work as a sales rep @ a Global computer company [Rhymes with Toshiba! lol], it's temporary [for fun/work exp], I'm heading to college next year in Costa Rica. :)

You will find busts out there worth that much too!

I've only found one other who knows anything about watches, he is one of our corporate attorneys and is a Breitling fan but does not have a clue about the details.

I just dont worry about it because I (like most of you) know lightyears more about watches than these guys with 10 gens do.

I wear mine when I go to a construction site and all the workers could give a shit what is on my wrist. As long as I bring them Dunkin' Donuts coffee they really could care less.

I am a co-owner of a somewhat large company that deals with online advertising, so most people tend to believe that all my reps are gens (including ADs, since I have two gen watches). I am young though, only 19, so most watch-freaks that don't really know me personally demand an explanation of sorts. If they are nice, I (on occasion) let them know that I own a few reps and a few gens. But if they have a tone that gives me a "bad vibe", I obviously play along that it is gen and basically make them feel I am way better than he/she will ever be.

I could easily afford purchasing all gens, but that would be a waste of money. Being frugal is the key to success, that's why I am so successful at what I do at the age I am, I save nearly every penny, and reps help me enjoy life AND save money!

Bob, did you go to college? 19 is a young age to have a successful online advertising business. Was it something that you developed with your co-owner(s)? I am very interested in hearing successes of the youth of America. Considering most 19yr. olds are half baked at college, drooling on their pillows, after an all night kegger on Greek Row.

I'm attending college right now with CS as my major. The company is a partnership between me and several other experienced dot com entrepreneurs. We've all been in the industry for many years now (obviously I started really early). Our corporation consists of over 50 high-profile entertainment, movie/music news/reviews, and tech/gaming news/reviews websites. We sell advertising in-house and represent many other independent websites, with a vast list of clients from Sony Pictures and Universal Studios, to EA Games and US Army.

Don't get me wrong, I do my share of partying most nights. I just don't waste time daydreaming when I'm sober during the day.

Bill Gates was smoking dope on his bed at Harvard thinking up ways to steal Apple Computer' operating system. He eventually made money sure...but if you are trying to tell me that this kid wasn't hittin' the pipe, c'mon...
