I read some people's posts about gen mvmt's and how some rep's here carry those gen mvmts... I wasn't sure if I should be shocked or give myself a "duh!" newb-slap right on the forehead... do these actually exist?? If they do, am I going to be paying upwards of $300 for them? The post I read was referring to Davidsen's watches, so I guess that's a clue.

But people, tell me this, am I way off base? Isn't the point of a rep to replicate those mvmt's and not give the actual gen mvmts? Or do we not live in simple times?

even if anyone had a gen mov't in a rep case you would not be paying three hundred quid for it. a gen movement is thousands of dollars. what you must be thinking is the asian vs. swiss movements.

Panerai use modified ETA 6497 movements in many of thier watches.

Basically on a higher end rep you would get a modified Swiss/asian hybrid (correct me if i am wrong). in any case you wont be dissapointed.

gen movements are 1.5k and up, provided if u can find one. a gen dial, hands and movement in a rep case can easily set u back by 2k.

...which will be close to the price of some _used_ gen PAMs ;)

I have this beautiful movement that is NOT for sale... and it set me back a pretty penny.. this is a movement for the pam90 power reserve and a used Pam90 runs anywhere from 4K and up.

i don´t know why you has bought this genuine power reserve movement???

you can´t use it. No fitting case, no fitting dial, no fitting hands???

you can use it ONLY as spare parts for broken 090 movement.

Isn't the ETA 2893-2 the gen movement in, for example, the PAM 029??

Historically, Panerai, until some recent in-house production, just bastardized common swiss movements?? Isn't that the knock from the real watch snobs......like the a-hole creep that I am becoming?

i believe any rep case and hands which fit a 7750 movement will fit the gen movement..it's based on the 7750 anyway..
