Anyone have experience in how long this takes to break in?

Additionally, anyone have experience in leather conditioners for an application like this?

Some members suggest working in a TINY bit of olive oil into the strap, to darken it, and make it feel more substantial.

I condition my straps, but I would not use any oils.

especially not olive oil. neatsfoot oil maybe, but not for me. mold eats that stuff and
I'm not into moldy straps personally. plus I'm not big on oiled leather anyway. I
bought an oiled leather strap from a guy here, AJ, and it was absolute junk.

anyway, what I use to condition my straps is the same thing I use to condition all
of the leather in my life: Lexol. use it on the furniture, in the cars and trucks and
on my watch straps. I generally don't need to use the orange bottle ph balanced
cleaner, I generally just use the brown bottle conditioner. only a tiny bit is needed,
you can even just use a q tip and apply it that way. I put some on a terry cloth
and rub it in.

but for an asso I wouldn't do any of that. not to that material, and certainly not to
a rep one that is full of paper and foam and who knows what else. just rub it with
your hands and bend it and stuff to break it in.

chromed.

agree with MMs. i just left it to age on its own with regular wear for about a month&it developed a nice patina + colour, almost identical to the gen. but it was sufficient for me.

but i do have this thing for letting leather/ wood patina&age on its own rather then "rush" into it.

to each his own tho :)

I just received my rep asso strap and I have to say for the price, they are really really nice. Thanks for the tips.
