Hey guys, so I I wanna mod my Milgauss by removing the green AR and painting the edge of the crystal green, I've been looking without success as to how to remove the crystal. Can anyone give me a link or a quick advise as how to do this prosess? Thanks!

You gotta work something under the bezel like a razor blade and pry it up to get the crystal off.

So that will pop the bezel off and then I can push the crystal out of it?

Actually, I believe there are several tutorials on removing watch crystals. I forgot to look in the "Tutorial" section so to cite a link. You might want to journey there and use the "search" function: e.g.: "crystal removal," or something like that.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I've always just used PVC parts for crystal removal. Just got to find ones that fit. A simple search will yield many tuts.

I was heating up my GMT with a heat gun, and to my surprise the crystal popped right out. That may work.

Ya I donno about the heat gun! I'm contemplating a press from watchbitz, that should do the trick! I'm also looking for a professional glass stain, I found one on a Italian website but it's not set up to ship outside the country if I'm not mistaken http://www.amicucci.it/colori.aspx?c=4&s=437

The press will help you get the whole shebang back on a lot easier, I can tell you that. It was pretty easy for me to get the bezel to pop off with a razor (and then just lift the crystal and gasket off) but you gotta put the whole thing back as one unit, and you gotta do it with even pressure around, so that took me like 20 tries to do by hand.

Regarding the color , I couldn't find a way to order anything like that to the states either, so I used a green sharpie to color the edges, let it dry, then went over it with a clear acrylic sealing pen. That came out pretty good.

Edit: BTW, heat gun would work, but it will work because youre deforming or flat out melting the nylon crystal gasket :) So if you want it waterproof after it's not the best choice.

cape cod works, but it was too slow going for me so i took it off with some polishing compound and my dremel. did the job much faster - will grab a pic of how it came out using the marker when i get a chance and post it up

Edit: as you can see, it's decent, but nowhere near as nice as what that other guy got with the "Deka" paint. But , made do with what material I had :)

Did you notice any big difference after taking the AR?

yeah, when light hits the crystal it doesnt reflect back a massive amount of green anymore :)

The cool thing is that when you have the sides colored in, a lot of the light getting in still gets shaded green (like it would on the real thing) so for instance, a drop of water on the crystal will be green.

I decided to redo this today as I was not happy with how it came out, and I was unhappy about the swirled left on the bezel from polishing.

Decided to try a different tactic and did sharpie + bake, instead of using the acrylic sealer which left a rough finish. To my pleasant surprise it worked and left the sharpie able to be washed without coming off. Got a chance to shine the bezel up real good too
