Very interesting! So gen is laser annealed for sure.

VSF looks laser etched as you can see the oxidation forming around the letters. Laser etched removes the protective layer that keeps oxygen from reacting with the metal.

ZZF uses ferric chloride however they didnt etch it in one go. That's why there is pitting and stress corrosion marks. It has to be really rinsed then absolutely dry before you go again. Curious if it's like this for all ZZF.

Also, remember that Rolex changes the method they used to engrave serial numbers and the branding on the rehaut.

They switch a few times. When they first started engraving the rehaut bezel, it was engraved at first (in the early years of this) and then they transitioned to an etchinv and then (now) its laser etching.

I'm not saying that they zzf or vsf did copy a different year. I'm just rinsing people that comparing a rep to 1 gen doesn't mean that is the correct gen as even Rolex has some variation from year to year.
