Very satisfied, best 127 I had so far and the rep strap this time is very soft and flexible. But as always you have to thighten all screws, especially the CG ones to get them secure and additionally I fully tightened the swan neck screw so it won't fall of and get stuck in the movement as happens so many times...

Never seen a 685 in real life but ZF looks very good, strap is also a better one. Wears big but not bulky and it is very comfortable due to the light weight using plexiglass instead of sapphire as is correct as Gen...

The fiddy will be my next purchase, unless I win the lottery and I will buy a patek perpetual chron ;

But does anybody know why the fiddys so much more expensive than a, for example, pam111? It doesn't make sense! I guess that is part of the mystery of the rep industry?

Most of the price difference could lay in the domed sapphire crystal. And then it's a rare and sought after watch, even as a rep :)

Ahhhh I did not realise it has domed sapphire... thought it was plexi.

It's sapphire. I checked. ;) For manufacturing, as the total cost is the sum of its parts cost, you also have to consider the relative uniqueness of its other parts, which for this example is the dial, case set, movement and crystal (which has already been mentioned, but the concept also applies there). The dial is unique for both the Fiddy and the PAM111 so let's say manufacturing costs would be the same (even though the demand for the PAM111 is higher than the Fiddy). The Fiddy case is only used on the PAM127, PAM217 (PVDed with the PAM375, DLCed with the PAM617/629), the PAM111 case set is used on so many other reps like the 000,.005, 112, 113, 114, 390, etc, PVDed, DLCed on the 599 (even on models that shouldn't use them like those based on the P.5000 8-day movement). The movement with the Graffiti "PANERAI PANERAI" decoration is also not used on many reps, because it was only usable up to the G series PAMs and only the Fiddy uses it now, being an E-series, whereas the A6497 with the Côtes de Genève (CdG) engraviing is used on many models which use the same case as the PAM111, H-series onwards. So what does that have to do with manufacturing costs (which in turn is passed on to the customer)? It's driven by the concept of economies of scale. As it applies to this example, the production volume of the movements and case set used for the PAM111 are high enough that the cost to produce them are much lower than those for the Fiddy, it's no longer directly proportional. Sorry for the long explanation, it's a Sunday (as if that was an excuse). :lol:

Amazing detailed response greatly appreciated mysterio Thanks for helping to broaden general understanding of the rep industry in such an intelligible way.
