Really need some help choosing my first Panerai

In the procesas of choosing my first Panerai to buy I have been doing all the due diligence and reading that was possible to the point that now I am really confused.

I have made a shortlist of the models I like based on my preferences (Steel case, 44mm, Glas on back, black dial, date and GMT if possible) and that what I understood to be very good reps.

If you guys can chip in with your skilled comments, suggestions or warning about these (or other I should consider) I would be grateful for.

Here is the list in prioritized order:

1. PAM320 M VSF V2 (probably impossible to find?)
2. PAM531 Q VSF
3. PAM586 Q ZF
4. PAM312 R VSF
5. PAM359 R VSF V2

I suggest you contact any of the dealers in Trusted Dealers list and check which of those models are actually available at this time.

This is a great list but several if not most of the models are not currently offered. I would second the above comment and send the list to a TD and see what is available.

Hello.

In general, I share the opinion of everyone who has already left their comment, because now it is not easy to get VSF, and most likely you will have to start from availability.

However, let me clarify for some models:
- PAM320 - a great option if you can find one as it's not the latest VSF model and I haven't seen anyone brag about buying one in a long time. However, you should be aware that the P.9001 with GMT has a PR indicator on the movement bridge, and on a rep clone from VSF (just like any other replica), it will not be functional, but simply fixed in one position.
- PAM312 as I understand it, without the GMT function, it suits you less, but it does not have the disadvantage that is indicated above.
- PAM359 VSF will be essentially an analogue of the PAM312 VSF, just in a polished case, and with a different dial design.
- PAM586 ZF is good due to solid caseback, but doesn't have p.9000 clone, but uses 7750 with deco plate, and doesn't have gen. But the main thing is that the ZF factory has not been producing this model for a long time, and the chances of finding it are the lowest.
- PAM531 in the last version that was produced, it had a P.9001 clone, so the GMT hand is not 24 hours, but 12, which is not correct, and also, the PR indicator is still not functional.
My favorite design is among the P.9000-based GMTs in a 1950 case, but the chances of finding a new one would be minimal in my opinion.
If you want to find it's m2m, you should read about the variety of movt. variations it's been made with all along.

Thanks a lot for the valuable information KOT1917 . If I may ask one additional question: Where is the PR indicator? Is it a day/night indication? I looked many gen pictures and cannot identify where it is. On the back there is Reserve charge indicator that I am not sure it works in the rep, but I don't think that is the opne you mean, right?

Indicated its location on the example of a photo of GEN:
Top P.9003 for PAM531, bottom P.9001 for PAM320 and others.

So I emailed around to the TD and a couple of them answered that PAM320 is possible to get it but there is longer delivery time. That is nice to know as from KOT1917 answer it sounds to me is the PAM 320 that is probably th best deal in the pack.

In the meanime I saw also the PAM1117 (this is also available) which I think looks very "sporty" and nice, but probably not a very good rep. So I have just to decide between these two (or buy bought ;-) ).

I will of course post when I receive the watch(es).

Just give your TD time. There is a chance that these days, everything will happen extremely slowly ...
