The guy has only 5 on his rating & they are all as a buyer.........he has only 1 picture up & when I emailed him about posting up more pictures on ebay, he asked for my email as he wants to send me the pics.

He says he has box & papers as well but doesnt show any on ebay........this looks legit but how can you buy a watch this expensive off someone that has never sold anything on ebay, especially this expensive that doesnt have a past on ebay.

Next question I would ask is if he has a sales receipt from an authorized dealer.

Probably not the smartest way to spend 15K.

He does have the serial number posted but with a guy like this that doesnt have any sales, he could be taking a picture of a legit watch & then sending a different watch that could be a replica. No one can say exact but if I lived in his area, I would want a face to face at a watch shop where that could authenticate the watch.

Heh ... so because he didn't purchase from an AD, I would like to hear what he says if you offer to have an associate of yours meet him at an AD for authentication.

If you follow his feedback, you can see that he recently "purchased" it from another member, or more then likely its a dumby account etc. Here is the previous listing with more pics, but exact same description

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=260952748704&nma=true&rt=nc&si=MiQSvK0BEb3STtRyuTfxi0EKDHw%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Hmmm......now you got me thinking! I saw he had 5 purchases but didnt look to see what he bought, thinking he bought some cheaper stuff. Now looking that he did buy the watch back on Feb 13, thats 2 months ago.........whats wrong thats hes selling it that fast after spending $13,000?

Something is definitely not right with this situation............

I came out & asked him why he is selling the watch after buying it off another ebay member 2 months ago............I am waiting for a response.

The seller bought the watch for $12,900 on Feb. 13 and wants the bidding to start at $13,500 or buy it now for $14,995. The watch didn't get any newer or any more rare in the last two months and the price of gold has dropped by almost $64 per ounce in that time. So what's his justification for the price increase?

Exactly! He is trying to make $2,000 profit on the buy it now.........or $500 just being the only person to win by bidding on it. The guy that sold it to him only has 3 sales but seems legit because he sold 3 expensive Rolex watches with boxes & papers. Wondering if there is anything wrong with it.

I asked but havent gotten a response yet..........

Or just cover his fees and shipping that could easily = ~$600.. not profit, really, if 1 bid. Looks like buyers remorse and trying to break even (or a little profit if BIN).

Based solely on what I have read here and seen on eBay so far, I would run away. (Your mileage may vary, of course.)

He just emailed, here it is:

just board with it. I buy and sell Porsche's to eat and just have never played with ebay to sell and thought I would sell the watch and a face to sell how the market is. Sells like the car buzz everyone knows everyone and all have the same watches. Are you one of those guys? So do you follow the watches on ebay? As I said I have bought lots of Porsche's from ebay and our dealership has a large presences here also. Just playing and if it sells great if not oh well, as it is a very nice one. I had it on action and had 200 lookers and 15 or so followers, so somewhere there is a buyer for this watch. Again just a ebay rookie but well get better. Dave

^^^^^^

He says he sells a lot of Porsches on ebay but why wouldnt he use that account to show people?

Man this stinks!! I'd run.
But if you're intrigued, ask to see some of his Porsche listings. You just happen to be looking for a nice 911 to play around with. What a fortunate coincidence!

Just asked him if I could see any Porsches he has for sale on ebay......lets see what he comes back with.

Here is what he had to say to my above question:

My company name is www.ibuyporsches.com and most people that I buy their car check me out though Google though my company name or my name David Maxwell or by my cell phone *********. Through ebay they have a protection plan which covers all worries of the watch being what is is to be. I will only sell this through ebay and Paypal only and no shipping outside the USA. The Porsche's are sold though a dealership in Houston ********* and are on ebay daily.

What do you guys think? He does seem legit...........What bothers me about this situation with the Rolex is, if he is selling Porsches & making good money, why sell a Rolex after 2 months. His excuse is he is bored with it........I dont buy it. There may be something wrong with the watch or I may be just a paranoid person..........

Na, I disagree. I'd say the guy is legit. The website exists, there is his FB account, twitter, linkedin and dozens of threads about him all over the net. He's one of the largest buyers of Porches in the US and a bit of a wheeler dealer and of cause a used car salesman but he is not going to dent his reputation for a 14k watch. I'd say he got bored. Last time I looked there is nothing illegal about making a profit on ebay. Nice watch at the asking price.

If you wanna make sure it's the real Dave Maxwell his phone # is (503) 381-4925, call and ask.
You guys really should do a bit of basic research before calling folk out as scammers. The Op provided all the info needed to check up on this guy but obviously no one has.

I believe you're right because I thought he was legit but a guy like him thats a wheeler & dealer cant spell words? Have you seen him spell above? Maybe im anal but if you're in the business he is in, I would think you would know how to spell..........
