When I was active at some of the other forums,
they all had a "NEW POSTS" button or something
that would automatically search for all the new
posts since my last visit. It was a nice feature.

Is there one here that I missed?

Yeah, but it straps around my chin and causes me to grow ingrown whiskers. I don't like wearing it

Okay, maybe I'm just being picky, but... is there a "skip to last read post" button within a thread?

Do you know what I'm talking about? Say, for instance, there is a thread with 6 pages of postings. The last time I logged in I read half of that thread but am not sure if I read through page 4 or 5 or 3... so some other forums I visit once and a while have a "last read post" or something button.

When you are in a section of the forum and you see a thread you want to skip to the end of, just click on the persons name to the right. This is the last poster in the thread and will take you directly to that post. However, you will not pass go or collect $200.

yeah, I get that, but that's not what I'm talk'n about. Say again, there are 6 pages in a thread. I read every post for the first 3 pages and half of the 4th. If I click on the person's name, it just brings me to the last post. The button I'm talk'n about (which must be pretty standard because it's on tons of forums) brings ME to the first unread post (UNREAD by ME) in that thread (page 4, half way down).

That I am aware of, we do not have that feature. I will look to see if something like that is available, but I have not seen it so far. The main problem is that different forums run off of different software and many forums can have different features because of this. There are "hacks" that allow us to modify the forums abilities, but we have to find them and then (the hard part) get them to work.

I will look.

I think the one I've noticed it on is vBulletin and INvision (I think)

But i would think that just about any forum software out there that is used popularly would have a bunch of user-made contributions
