I often wonder how people come up with their pricing on used OEM Panerai straps. I have seen lately several sales ads on vrious forums, including here, prices are all over the place. Some of the conditions of the straps are terrible, yet they asking $200-$350 depending on the hide. I have bought many OEM straps in my days from AD's, forums, and ebay and sold a bunch too. I would never pay $250 for a beat up oem gator when I have bought brand new ones in the package for $200 or less. Then I see the same ads week after week at the same price. People wonder why they aren't selling? They're too f#cking high! Then I would email or pm them to get a realistic price to be told "firm" on price? Seriously?

I know what you mean. I recently saw a oem gator strap on p.com that was beat to hell and even looked like it had a slight tear and the guy was asking over $250. To make matters worse, someone else then replied to the thread saying "great straps, will sell fast". I briefly thought of replying to the thread and call the guy out, then thought better of it and let it go. But the pricing is VERY inconsistent everywhere you look.

It has nothing to do with Pam straps. It's human mentality against taking a loss. Nobody wants to loose money when they sell something and they always wanna recoup their purchase price. That includes me.
Your observation is very spot on though. Prices are all over the place. But they are always what market will pay. If there is a sucker who will pay that much for a beat up strap with wrist cheese on it, ( to a certain degree) sucker deserves it.

if the condition doesn't match up to the asking price, it's not gonna sell.

it's simple as that & a waste of time.

willing buyer, willing seller. Market forces is never too far off. If the price is too high, it won't sell.

Agree with the OP totally. But then again, there is a buyer (sucker) at those high price points. It can't hurt to try. Or maybe the sellers at those price points are disconnected with reality and pick hundred dollar bills off the money tree in their back yard;). Could be either
