I've seen it referenced a few times on here that the 26mm Radiomir/Fiddy straps can be made to fit the 44mm cases...I'm assuming this involves trimming of the strap at the lugs. Am I right? Is there any preferred/protip way of doing it, or do I just start abrading away at the leather with some sandpaper? anyone have pics of this done?

Just sell the 26mm strap and buy a 24mm. No reason to ruin a good strap brother

I would be interested in the process as well. I have an extra strap that is not worth the trouble of selling, and I want to put it on a watch case with lugs that are 2mm narrower than the strap. I was thinking of taking an exacto knife to it and cut notches, but if others have better solutions, I would like to hear them.

To clarify: I don't have a 26mm strap (yet). I was just thinking that the wider strap would look good on the 44mm case so I wanted to do some initial digging about it to see if it was feasible, since I'd seen a few posts about it being done n

Robb: My reasoning is the same. I want to have a wider strap attached to my watch.

Agreed...I prefer a wider strap (within reason, of course ;) ) and I think that the extra 2mm would make a nice visual and tactile difference.

I think it comes down to clipping/cutting/sanding the strap ends around the lug areas...and also picking a strap that (if it has stitching) has it in further towards the center of the strap so you don't have to sand/cut through it. I also think that sanding gradually would work better than cutting, because it enables you to go little by little instead of possibly overestimating it.

He'll yah....do it. It'll look great.

Lots of brands, B&R foe example do that with their watches. Post some pics when your done aswell.

Why not get one of the custom strap makers to build you one, instead of trying to modify a strap meant to fit 26mm lugs.
