Quick question about the distance of the crown to the case..

..on Davidsen's 036..

on his advert pictures he posts this:

Here's what I saw:

This is different than the gen, AND the first pic he posted.

Now, I asked Davidsen about it, showed him the same pics I showed you, and he said that

"The gap is necessary for a good Water resist protection and spring type structure"

Am I being taken for a ride here?

Experts please help...

No mate, you're not being taken for a ride :)

The gap between the case and the crown is a result of number of factors:
- length of the crown stem tube
- type and number of o-ring crown seals installed between the crown groove and the crown stem tube
- type and shape of the crown itself
- dimensions (length) of the CG lever pin (part that pushes the crown against the case and ensures water tightness)
...etc

All this factors combined together play part in the final crown-versus-case position when the CG lever is engaged (closed), resulting in almost always different gap width, on case by case basis.
