Questions about Servicing my TAG

Hi Guys,

Once again, i need the advice of the pro's of this Forum.

I purchased this Tag Aquaracer Chrono day-date Asian 7750. This is the one watch I need running for along time, hopefully many years. Unfortunately after only three wears the second hand does not work reset to 12pm but in random places all over the dial. not surprised, given the face the start/stop chrono button at 2pm was very sticky and hard to push in when first getting the watch.

In the rep game you win some and you lose some. I know it's the risk we take. not too concerned about the chorno not working properly since I love the watch and chrono will probably not be used. just want it running good for along time.

I have read many threads about getting your watch serviced, especially a high end rep you want running for a long time. I have searched but not quite sure how to go about doing this...

1.how important is it that I get this serviced?

2.Is there a chance the Chrono can be fixed in the process?

3.Who and how do I go about sending the watch to be serviced? Who is recommend?

since I'm in the U.S. I assume I need to send it to someone in Conus?

I thank you in advance for your time and advice.

If you are ready to put 150-200 into this watch, then yes it's worth getting serviced. If not, buy another watch. Or if you bought it from a dealer, ask them if they can get it serviced for you in China. They may say, no, they might say yes @ X$ amount. Cheaper than anywhere else in the world I would think.

Right now as you know, it's :cny: and no one is home till after the 15th or so, even then you have a backlog. Figure on a couple/few months for that route. Domestically, the lead times might be a little bit better.

Yes my watch is 300+ so seems like I need to get it serviced but not interested in taking the risk of sending it to China so that's not an option. Does anyone know who I can use in conus for a trusted service?

1. it's is critical to it's longevity, it's a gorgeous watch, I highly recommend a service.

2. yes, there is a very high chance the watch will work perfectly after service.

3. You have several options of approved replica watchsmiths here.
a. Katt
b. Vac
c. Speedy
d. G, Chris, several others.

G I think said he's not taking orders until march, Vac has stated recently
that he's swamped but working through it, probably a delay there. if
you want it done now, personally I would send it to Katt today.

Katt:

his name is Gary, he's great and will take great care of you I promise.

Both beautiful watches. I got mine from Purtime too. just make sure the Chrono resets properly before shipped :)

So anyone out there who can advice us on who can service in our neck of the woods?

Thanks MM! Where is speedy located? I've read good things about both speedy and vac so guess can't go wrong who does the job... Can u advice what I should have serviced on my TAG besides movement and fixing of the chrono reset issue? This is one watch I want on my wrist for years to come so want to do it right. Thanks for the help!

After some reading up, I have decided to take MM's advice and contact either Speedy or Vac. They are the only two in CONUS correct? They seem to be considered the two of the best in CONUS if not the only in CONUS. Also would like some advice on what I should have done to the watch besides having the movement serviced/Chrono fixed. I like the watch as it is and don't want to go crazy and spend money on mods that I could buy another watch with, but some reasonable mods would be nice.

Better Lume ?
Water proof?
AR? do you feel it would be necessary on this particular watch? looks good to me as it is, but what do I know.

anything else you guys can think of please chime in. I would like to get it shipped off asap because I know I could possibly wait some time to get it back. I'm sure the watchsmith will give me instructions, but any thread links or advice on how to ship out my watch safely would be appreciated.

I guess the following: packaged well with bubble wrap, box taped up secure, my info and what I need done included. Should I insure it, in case of damaged or lost? what type of delivery options, delivery confirmation, overnight it? etc.

Sorry for the all the questions, but it's like the first rep purchase, you're nervous and paranoid not to screw it up.

Heh, I saw your avatar in another thread and came to the Tag forums to see which watch it was. Well, I'm glad to get the answer!

As to your last reply: get the mods that will make the most difference for you. I wouldn't mod a watch I don't plan on keeping. Personally I'd consider an AR job and, depending on the price, a relume. Waterproofing would be a waste for me since I never let my watches near any sort of sizable body of water (yes, I'm terribly paranoid). Also water lets all sorts of gunk and filth seep into cracks and will be a pain in the ass to clean up.

Don't stress about the shipping; a good amount of bubble wrap and a shipping number will do the trick. Overnight shipping would be a waste since our watch smiths are very busy and will take quite some time to get your watch back to you. One tip: pack your watches so that the bracelet/clasp doesn't have a chance to rub against other parts to avoid scratches. Put some bubble wrap in between the caseback and the bracelet and pack your watch tightly and it'll be fine.

Thanks ballface, I thought the same about the water proofing. I too would never let my watch near any water. Not even the gens that are made for it. So we share that bond. I'm pretty sure I want the lume but don't know about the AR. The watch looks great to me as is but I have never seen a before and after AR on my TAg. If anyone had done AR for their tag aqua please advice.

I assumed about the shipping overnight. But what about insuring the watch incase it gets lost? Or just wrap nice and ship priory with delivery confirmation?
