Hello all, new here so don’t burn me to the ground for these questions :) and after researching a bit I am looking to purchase my first brietling rep. Couple questions before I do. I have my eye on two different watches, both I like but want to get some info first.

first up is this one.

My questions here are would this be a very close replica or will there be two tale signs? I only ask because through my research I can’t find much on replica colts and am not familiar with the manufacturer here. Also would like to know how the leather rep bands are. Are these typically junk or are they a nice real leather.

Next question is on this one. I have heard these are basically a super rep and NWBG but is this the version I am looking for from GF?

i know these are apples to oranges style wise but which would be look the most like it’s gen?

You are off to a good start by using a Trusted Dealer aka TD. Your second choice is made by GF. They are making the best Breitlings. Your first choice is on the lower end of quality. You are not going to get a good Rep for $200. The best Breitling's made by GF is in the $298-$398 price range.

Almost all Rep leather straps are low quality. In the last year or so they have improved on the rubber straps to bring them up to an acceptable level.

OP I literally just took delivery of the GF seawolf you posted the link to.....you won't be disappointed. Its a big unit though so be conscious of that when deciding. Not only is it a large faced watch at 45mm, its quite thick (due to the gen being waterproof to 3000m) at 18mm. So it doesn't really work as a dress watch as too thick to go neatly under a shirt sleeve and if you've skinny wrists, it might look out of place. For reference, my wrists are about 7.5" and works just fine for me....hence why I have 4 variations!!!

If you are concerned about the size but like the look of the seawolf, why not consider the avenger II GMT. You can get it with either baton markers or with the numbers like the seawolf. If smaller at 43mm and slimmer also so works as a sporty dress watch if you so wish. Note that the GMT has a very polished look including the bracelet if you went for that. I have mine on a gen rubber and tones it down very much so. Its a great rep and well regarded here so worth a look also if you like the seawolf especially.

Yeah I’m going to go with the the Avenger GMT. Can’t decide if I want the dark DLC coated version or the regular SS version. Probably SS as I’d like to get a tan leather band for it for a dressier look. If anyone has either Avenger GMT version with a black face with a brown leather strap please post pics I’m curious to how it looks

To touch on the “buying process” I just recently purchased a Navitimer 8 from InTime and I’m very pleased with the experience. Ryan (InTime) will confirm your payment within 24-48 hours. Then he will email you QC pictures of your watch within a week of purchase (took 2 days for me). Once you approve them he will ship it out with in 24-48 hours. I purchased mine on 10/10 and it should arrive on 10/22 via DHL.

Also note that due to the time difference you’ll receive emails overnight so be sure to reply promptly to avoid delays.

If there's a Breitling boutique near you I recommend going in to check them out in person. I was recently facing the same sort of dilemma as you are, and a quick trip to check out the gen in person made up my mind fast. The SS version is very shiny & a bit blingy, where the DLC is muted and understated. FWIW, IMO neither is even a little bit dressy, the Avenger is a decidedly sporty watch.
