Question Regarding VSF PAM312 vs GEN PAM 312 Bezel

Greetings, gents. I was hoping someone with a little more knowledge, or an actual VSF PAM312 V2, could chime in with information regarding the bezel... particularly where the bezel meets the crystal. I've noticed that in many comparisons (which I can only make through images and not first hand) that it appears that where the bezel meets the crystal on the VSF appears flush against the crystal, where as the gen appears to have a flat/leveled area prior to "meeting" the crystal. Is this just something I am missing from the angle of the images that I am reviewing, a change that has been seen through versions of the gen which is carried over to the rep, is it there but perhaps thinner than gen, or did VSF actually miss that detail?

I have included an image of a confirmed GEN (top) to a VSF 312 V2 (bottom) in an effort to better describe what it is that I am speaking of. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Sorry... typo in last line "I have included an image of a confirmed rep (top) to a VSF 312 V2 (bottom)"

The top image is a confirmed GEN, while the bottom is the VSF REP

I have edited your post accordingly
I hope you don't mind

Hello!

This is a good and unambiguous question.
My opinion is that gen had a change in this and some other details around 2011.
They are definitely different, both thin and thick, and I'm belive your gen with a photo of the K - N series.
I have definitely seen samples of the gen P series (2013) already with a thin bezel facet. I am sure that the R series (VSF V2) is definitely narrower than many old ones, but the exact thickness is hardly attainable in REP, the bezel chamfers are almost always almost incorrect.

Here are some photos of gen 320 and 312 older and newer with wide and narrow frontal planes. This is not easy to look at from the photo, on polished SS a lot depends on the angle, light, and in the end, some can be simply re-polished, but the difference is pretty obvious:

Thank you so much for clarifying this! It could have been the deal breaker for me, already considering all the other discrepancies involving the DW and font thickness. Much appreciated!

I am always glad to suggest.

An acquaintance of mine changed gen pam312 O series to rep vsf pam312 v2 R series, and he is completely satisfied with it.

His photo is not very good, but the situation with the bezel is understandable.

Rep:

Hope this helps in making a decision.
