Question regarding thicknesses?

I have a perhaps silly question, but one that has bugged me for a while now.

In both ALE's fantastic Panny guide and in the spec's of our beloved TDs I've noticed that the standard 44mm Luminor case (just base movements and/or with second sub dial) is reported as having a thickness of anywhere between 14mm and 17mm, with 15mm seeming to be the most common reported thickness.

My question is are these thicknesses reliable, are they dependent on solid vs sapphire casebacks (doesn't appear so that I can tell) or the inclusion of a subdial (also doesn't appear to be affect the thickness consistently), or are all these variants effectively the same and the reported thicknesses unreliable.

I have pretty small wrists and having just tried on a gen PAM 632 that lay nice and snug (relatively speaking) to my wrist and would like my first "SUPER" rep purchase to be as thin as possible (15mm as opposed to 17mm)
