Drawing from the assumption that most of our learned colleagues have lives and better things to do than entertain questions, I have one follow-up question on a spring issue with P3000 movement on a California 448, Z-Factory. Sead is the TD (and I trust him implicitly).
My first post indicated that the P3000 used to wind to "resistance" and I would carefully wind it to full stop. Never overwound it, usually allowed 2-3 days for winding. I found the spring skipping as wound it. I could feel it skip. Then during winding, it seemed like the entire spring just zipped back to zero. Now, I can wind it and it keeps time but it will just wind to infinity. I can wind it all day long and it won't stop. Question: does the P3000 have a clutch that prevents it from being over-wound? Or does it actually have a stop where the spring is fully wound. I would be grateful for an answer if anybody knows.
Final point: The TD has agreed to take back the watch, send it back to Z factory and have them either repair or replace it. I'll be happy with a replacement movement but then I'd also be happy with a Mercedes CS500.....
