Question on Replacement Bar Pins/Tubes for Straps

My rep alligator strap came with the pins obviously but also a set of tubes in the strap. What are the tubes used for??
What if you don't use tubes ??
BTW: that rep gator strap was so terribly stiff after putting it on WAY loose on the 2nd buckle hole, I couldn't bend it enough to get it off myself and wore for about 30 minutes until I could have a friend press down hard enough to loosen it up and pull the tongue out. What a nightmare - guess what already went in the trash

tubes just make the stress distribution even across the strap... I honestly never bother with tubes.

I once had a long discussion about using tubes vs not using tubes. It got out of hand, but the conclusion for me is that it is personal preference.

I don't think they do much personally
Used to not bother but later changed my mind and bought a bunch of tubes and now use them all of the time
The cost is not much so I figured I might as well use them but would not consider them required
