Question about PAM 224 received today

I received my first rep in the mail today, a PAM 224 (Noob 2013). It looks beautiful. It's heavier and larger than I was anticipating (though I have no real experience with watches as this is the first watch I've ever owned).

The strap, as expected, is truly crap. Even though it's very thin, it was VERY difficult to put on as there is not much space at all to feed it past the clasp lugs. I have to replace the strap ASAP. I was hoping to keep the deployment, but I'm not sure any decent strap would fit through the space past the clasp lugs. So I'm going to be looking for a strap and hardware. Does anyone own this PAM and like the strap(s) they've purchased? If so, I'd love to see some photos.

Finally, I wanted to say a few words about Ken. He was great to deal with and super responsive. I received QC shots in one day and had the watch in my possession very quickly and well packed. He's definitely my go-to TD.

Nice watch , and lovely shot of that dial.
im confused to your statement on the strap though. Yes the leather will never be up to OEM gator standard. But the deployant will always be a challenge during the first adjustment but it should only be a one time job. I've got OEM deployant straps and they are tough to pull through.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I can't imagine using a thicker strap with this deployment even just the one time. But maybe some straps are thinner on the end so they can be fed through. I was curious to see what straps people are using with this rep, but I guess it's not a popular model.

You will need a 24/22 strap that's thinner at the buckle. Just avoid ammo or vintage straps and you should be fine.
If you order a custom one you might want to specify to the maker that you will be using the deployant.
Or you could change to a standard buckle :)

Please note that "Deployant" is also an accepted term for what you are looking for. How much are you looking to spend? It sounds like you'd like a nice strap. For $100-150 you can get a nice used OEM deployant strap.

I'd like to be around $100, if possible. I'm assuming that the used OEM deployant straps wouldn't come with the hardware for $100-150, is that correct? Thanks for the reply!

Thanks, ALE. Yeah, the watch is beautiful. With a new strap, it will be amazing. Good start to my PAM connection.

I believe "deployant" is actually the correct term, is it not? As I understand it, "deployment" is the one that sounds like it should be right, but isn't.

Anyway, semantics aside, if you don't want to go with a gen strap there are plenty of larger scale strap makers in the $50-$100 range (Panatime, eBay sellers, etc) that do deployant-specific straps that will probably be thinned at the ends as needed. There's also always the various custom strap makers of course, both here and abroad, you should be able to find someone who can do what you're after for that price.

I don't have a rep PAM deployant so I can't speculate on how it compares to the gen, but I've got to imagine any difficulty you're encountering with the rep piece you'll also encounter with the gen. As for my personal opinion, I'd just go for a new strap and a Pre-V buckle, it's an integral part of "the look" for any Pam in my eyes.

Great pic, by the way, I was never really a fan of the blue dial but after seeing that I could certainly get behind one.
