Question about 6497 movement....

I have a Pam127 from KW.... with the Asian 6497 movement. I LOVE the watch but I notice that it seems to lose or gain a minute every 3 weeks or so.
is this considered good or not so good for this mechanical watch movement ?

I rest it face up at night if it runs fast and face down if it runs slow.... but sometimes it does not seem to make a difference.
Do I need to send it off to be regulated ? ... or is it fine like it is ?

thanks

Oh thats good news ! lol
I didn't know what was considered good or not good.
I love the fiddy SO much that I rarely wear any of my other watches... there is just something about it that draws me to it every day. lol

thanks for your opinions on the movement.... glad to hear things are ok with it.

One minute every three weeks.....? :)
Boy , this is great.
Not even the gen has this "time gap" , it's superior even to Rolly gen.

ALE ? I'm NOT kidding here.... its about a minute every 3 weeks or so. I had no idea whether that was good or bad.
I didn't think it was good because I don't know that much about the inner workings of watches.... I guess I thought that mechanical watches were always very accurate
for several months at least. LOL

I know nothing about this.... that's why i am asking.

what everyone is saying here is a revelation to me.
everyone.....I appreciate your input.

thanks so much

I reread your initial post, and a variance between dial up/down is typically not a good thing. But if you're still only gaining or losing 1min every few weeks, then its not that big of a deal. It would equate to a +3s/d dial up and -3s/d dial down... just continue wearing and enjoying.

What I would like to know is.... how should I rest the watch when I am not wearing it overnight ? dial up or dial down ?

it does not seem to make any difference either way.... I just thought I would try it to see if it did make a difference.
it has been running a minute fast lately every 3 weeks. sometimes it runs slow.... but always just a minute ahead or behind.
the watch seems to decide what it wants to do. lol

too funny.

On its side usually seems to be best. this does away with the + or - of back or front position for hours at a time. However, what I learned years ago when I was the Rolli Rep at an authorized dealer, is that the Rollies like to learn the wearer. For it to do this, it must be worn.

Most people do not wear their watches to bed. However, the watch likes to be worn a full 24 hours for best results. Stagnant times, change the balance so to speak.
In truth, while wearing, the watch is in any number of positions, changing continually. This works well for a mechanical watch movement.

Wow... Thanks Knife ! thats really interesting. would have never thought that about needing to wear it to bed. PLUS... I never thought to lay the watch on it's side... but it makes sense. great information.... thanks ALOT ! I'm gonna go put it back on. lol

You are very Welcome! :)
One watch in particular I have , a 386 rep, will gain time if left on its back. About 4 minutes over night. However, if I wear it to bed, it will keep excellent time.

If I'm not wearing it for a day or two, if left on it's side, it will still keep very good time.

Have had the same experience with several Rolex Gens over the years.

My Rolex watch maker, told me about the need to wear them 24 hours years ago. Proved to be true, however odd sounding. LOL!!!

I think wearing it while sleeping could be a bandaid for an underlying issue. If your hand moves while sleeping, you're constantly changing the position of the watch, which will vary the rate at which it runs at. Any movement that gains 4min over night while laying down, needs work.

I've just purchased a Pam 512 and it's gaining about 5 mins a day, I'm hoping it settles down a bit but I can just about live with it.

A minute in 3 weeks is incredible.
