Question about 026 dial

So I received my DSN 026 dial today but I have a question about the lume colour. According to DSN's photobucket photo of his 026, the lume is quite orange--which I like very much. What I received is a dial with the 'normal' lume colour. A quick look on the web suggests that the gen 026 does not have an orange-ish lume,so what I received is presumably correct and his photo way off. ....or is it? I find it hard to imagine that David would offer a dial on his site that was so (apparently) off-colour. I have yet to take the dial out of its plastic protective box, but it sure doesn't look remotely orange. It does, however, look gorgeous!

The 026 is a re-issue of the older 026..

The original 026 was a T dial.... this is reflected in the pics in DSN's photobucket....

The new 026 is a sandwich L dial.... which is what you probably have in hand....

Just looked again... the pics under pvd 026 show a T SWISS T dial... so, it's for the older 026....

The advertisement in his section shows the new re-issue.... which has the L SWISS MADE L sandwich dial...

Thanks for the clarification LoS. I indeed received the 'L Swiss L' version. So was the 'T' version a more orange colour? From what you say I take it you are implying that the 'T' version was not a sandwich. I don't really care whether it is sausage or sandwich because the watch is going to end up a hybrid anyway, put I do like that orange hue--but only if the lume is strong. Do you happen to know if the 'T' version is still available and whether it has good lume?

Well the "T" stands for tritium. When tritium ages it turns a creamy yellow/orange color, typically. That's why the lume on Pre-V, Pre-A and A series dials have that yellow/orange hue. However, 12 year old tritium would not glow very strongly. So, if you want an accurate rep that glows strongly, that pretty much rules out any tritium dials.

If you are asking do DSN's "tritium look" lumed dials glow well, the answer there is "yes". No, the original 026 was not a sandwich dial.

Thanks for that, Hooligan. I'm going to stick with the new dial based upon what you've said. It's beautifully done and should hopefully look great on that Titanium 056 case. I'm thinking that it might be a good learn-to-lume exercize some time in the future to change the colour of a sandwich dial lume, but that's off in the future.
