Quck release fragility

Hey guys, so a TD once told me that if that part of the watch fails, there’s no way to fix it. As a result, I’ve been super careful when swapping straps or I would avoid it all together and only do if I absolutely have to.

I know if it broke, there’s a work around and you would still be able to attach the strap but I personally rather not have to go that route.

For those of you who swap straps often, have you had the quick release pins fail you? Or is it pretty robust and lasts a long time?

Thanks much in advance!

I have a PAM1312 from VSF with the quick release feature and it's great. I've only had the watch for two months but have probably changed straps like 50 times, lol. It feels very sturdy and I haven't had any fear of it breaking.

My VSF 088 quick release works really good, but I doubt it'll last for years.
The ones on my old Noob 297 are a bit loose now.

I've seen a number of pams, both gen and reps with this breakdown. Even AD does not repair it, and changes the case.
This happens, but you should not save on the pleasure of changing the strap because of this, in my opinion.
This happens no more often than the case threads die when using screw rods, especially titanium. Unfortunately, nothing is forever, but I do not think that this knowledge should determine the choice. Just operate carefully, and trust that this problem will not affect you.

Well, regarding the numbers of times we switch straps, we must admit (and reasonably hope) that most of the rep quick release parts keep up pretty good yes, at least for a couple of years, sometimes way more.

It does fail even on genuine pams. When it happens you can use spring bars.

pixel_junkie specifically mentioned the workaround, which that is, and he knows it's available however he does want to go that route. I've had the QR button on my PAM332 fail and that was when it arrived. I got sent a pair of QR buttons but since I did not want to risk damaging the watch, I just sent the watch back to the TD and I picked it up when I was back in China a few months later. :)

Only one QR button failed on me but it was after a full summer of salt water with my VS 312. I’m sure if I didn’t expose it to such conditions it would still be working. My VS 531 and 351 buttons have been solid.

The one thing I don’t like about the spring bars on QR case is they have some play. Maybe the spring bars are tighter on screw bar cases?

Spring bar in using sits very tight. There is no play.

So, last week I had some new spring bars arrive from Amazon. I happened to be wearing my 320 with the QR, so I thought I'd test one of the new spring bars to see how they fit.... Of course, when I pressed the first QR button it failed on me. Ironic.
