Hi

Looking for some help on QC acceptance for my Tag 1887. This is only my second rep purchase so I'm still steep in the learning curve.

They sent pressure test results. This wasn't done for my last rep, so I'm not sure what is acceptable. The results show:

Pressure +3bar
Deformation +95um
Leak Rate +6%/m
Ts/Tm 67/15 s

All the pics look great! I'm excited to see my new toy!

Anything is acceptable since trusting a pressure test before shipping is asking for trouble. All it says is this watch can be made water resistant.

Thx for the quick response.

My next homework project will be how to water proof a watch.

Water RESISTANT as water proof is pretty much impossible - that's why they put those numbers on the dial - to tell it's limitations.

In general chronograph watches are not the best candidates for intensive water activities. All it takes is an accidental press of the chronograph pushers and your case will have water incursion. Screw down pressers are a better option, but ultimately there are more points of potential failure. Wear the watch, enjoy it, but I would not suggest you invest money in any additional water resistance measures. Pick up a diver for swimming. The regmairner is a good inexpensive option and multiple members have pushed them to 10 ATM and I believe beyond if I remember correctly. Take comfort knowing that any gentle water exposure will not destroy the watch. The official definition of 3 ATM = "Suitable for everyday use. Splash/rain resistant. Not suitable for showering, bathing, swimming, snorkelling, water related work and fishing.".

Thx for the advice. Good to know before I go swimming.

Does anyone know how the TD's pressure test apparatus works, or what it's measuring? Just curious. I'm pretty certain they're not submersing a watch and risking flooding it. Perhaps an air pressure test?

I got test results too for the new VSF Pam388 I just ordered.

Pressure: +3.0
Deformity: +89.86
Leak Rate: +0.6
Ts/Tm: 60/15

So I'm guessing it passes for water resistance (rain/splashes/sweat) but not for immersion unless further treatment is done?

Both may pass a much higher pressure test and be safe for swimming, however, that is as far as was tested. If you really want to know, I'd suggest either building a pressure tester as described in the forum or pick one up on the bay.
