I don’t have the eagle eye that some on this forum do (always amazes me the details they can spot) but here’s my checklist:
- alignment of the face with the case (rotated clockwise or ccw)
- are the hour markers aligned / straight
- is the crown too far out
- date wheel alignment and font
- font on the watch face
- any scratches (sometimes dust looks like scratches)
- hands the correct size / type
- rehaut printing / depth

To do this I take the pictures and put them in PowerPoint to add straight lines for vertical and horizontal- then rotate the pic of the watch to see if there are alignment issues.
Sometimes difficult as the pics are not taken directly centered over the watch.

Most popular models will have a dedicated thread, which you can find using the search bar. Some can be more than 30 pages long, but are a very useful source of information of what is and isn't acceptable with that model.

If you are buying from a TD, you can also look in their review sections to see the types of QC pictures that members have received and their overall levels of satisfaction with the TD.

You need to look in the Gen Section for a desirable list like that.

Or just accept the fact that you are buying a rep...
If it looks good to you, just take it. Small flaws are found even on gens, just head over to any of the gen forums and see for yourself.

Once you've done enough research to choose your watch and ensure you're happy with it, stop looking. If not, you'll end up learning the faults and then they'll stare you in the face. Try to live in the sweet ignorance that your rep is as good as the gen! :D

Because I built two frankins on the noob base, a subc and GMT. The cases are pretty much genuine spec. The GMT has everything but the midcase genuine. Can't say the same for the others. Also the fit and finish of the noob is amongst the best you'll find in the replica world. Just my opinion from the 60 to 70 replicas I've had. I haven't had a ZZF in hand. I know from an appearance standpoint they've done a great job, I don't know the overall finish how well it's done.

First you need to decide if you want to keep it stock or plan to build it. Then decide which version has flaws you can accept. The vvf has the more reliable movement, a 2836.

I wrote this back in Jan. let me know what you think

This post is a question as much as a statement. I hope not to be flamed for trying to write this as I hope it will be a work in progress and will vary from factory to factory.

I think there is a good chance that in the case of a Daytona, sea dweller, Submariner and DateJust, there may even be reason to justify a thread for each model.

My desired purchase is a Daytona 116500 where there is a bit more to worry about (subdial position and thickness) but just holding out as I recently spent my slush fund on the wife. One of my queries is what I should look out for when recieving my QC photos. The below is pretty universal but I hope it helps.

I know there is the option of overlaying the QC pics to the gen but there are known differences between rep and gen and a certain level of acceptance that a rep is a rep so can't be 100% perfect.

Things I am trying to run off the top of my head

- Bezel
Ceramic colour Text colour
Text font
Text size
Text proximity to inner and outer edge - correct and consistent all the way around
Hour marker consistent alignment

- Datewheel
Alignment in Cyclops
Text font and size
What time does it change?

- Crystal
Alignment of Cyclops
Milky cyclops
Anti relfectI've

- SEL
Recess
Alighment to case at sides

Dial
- precision of lume
- alignment of dial (central?)
- alignment of hour markers

This isn't supposed to be a checklist of the differences to Gen. More a list of areas where a QC pics can differ from the website pics.

Now I am approaching what to me is the end of this post I worry that people who are less bothered about how perfect their watch is may go overboard with checking QC!

Here's hoping I don't go down in flames.

V7 is out of production. Current is v9. Opinions vary, but for myself, if a subariner, GMT master and Daytona I'd go with noob.

Okay thanks. So these shown watches are not available at the TDs anymore?:
https://puretimewatch.io/submariner-114060-no-date-black-ceramic-v7-1-1-noob-best-edition-a3131.html
https://chazingtime06.co/products/s...mic-11-noob-best-edition-ss-bracelet-a2836-v7

And also the Noob V8 seems to be stocked at Toro:
http://www.trb88.club/index.php?route=product/product&path=39_115&product_id=2034

So for a NoDate you would recommend to go with the Noob V9? Most certainly I will leave it OOTB...

Let's just be clear: QC Photos are intended to make sure that you are getting the watch you ordered and that it doesn't have any clearly visible production flaws. It's NOT meant for you to open photoshop and draw 500 red lines making sure everything is lined up to 0,001mm accuracy. Not even gens are perfect. I've seen countless gen rolexes with dials misaligned, bezels etc. etc.

You're buying a replica product made in china at typically 5% of the actual cost of the gen watch. Unless there are obvious faults with the watch or something is highly misaligned you should reject it. Just cause a few markers are off 0.1 mm isn't a reason to reject the watch unless it's so different from the photos on the TD websites. It's frustrating to see how many people are nitpicking their QC. It's honestly what makes the price go UP and Up and UP because the TD's also don't want to deal with it.
