QC Help with First Rep: Black BP FF Noob - What Did I Miss!

Hey fellow BBers,

Was able to find a Black BP FF Noob with TB, but from one of the newer batches. I know the v1s hit it out of the park, but from my recent reading it seems like the v2s / v3s have been going downhill from a QC perspective. I'm hoping I'm a bit lucky with this one.

Overall, I'm a bit unsure about the font color and some of the font spacing. This may be due to camera tricks though. Do you guys / gals think this should pass?

Here's my stab at the QC, but this is my first rep assessment so I would welcome any thoughts on what I missed!

Assessment:

- From this face, the teeth count seems right at 12 between the two lug ends where it meets the case.
- Finish looks great, and I understand why this rep got its super reputation.
- The hexagonal shape in the lug bar seems a bit shallow vs. the gen pictures (they seem deeper, and from an angle appears to be a hollow bar) but I know this was a weak point of the rep. I may replace them with spring lug bars anyways...
- Lettering seems in line with the gen pictures, similar width and depth
- Bezel height seems to tie with the gen pictures
- Crystal thickness seems to be SLIGHTLY flatter than the gen pictures by 1/2 a mm at the top of the dome
snajDBn.jpg

- The font seems a bit more white than the v1, and the gen, both of which have a slightly more "creamy" yellowish tint to them; not sure if it's just the bright white light of the room throwing it off though
- The numbers seem to align with the tick marks as per the gen, with the line slightly above the 2 in the 12, and the 6 dead center...may be the camera angle but the 3 seems like 1/2 a mm too high
- Arm length and shape seems quite good
- The bezel doesn't seem perfectly centered...like it should be adjusted 1/2 a tick clockwise; note the bottom tic and the 6, and the top diamond vs. the 12; is this a camera angle issue?
- Any thoughts on the coloration? I know this one isn't as complicated as the blue, and there doesn't seem to be color differences
URYnFZd.jpg

- Logo on the crown seems correct
- The slight indentation where the lug arms join the case match the gen pictures
Z9XDvNA.jpg

- Seems to have plastic wrap, but looks like the back of the case is the same polish / texture as the rest of the case...gen pictures seem to vary from having a more rugged concentric circle to the polished texture featured here; watch may need some elbow grease and a polish cloth when it gets here
- Text font - Antimagnetic the C seems to go a bit further out than the gen by 1 mm, stopping more on the O vs. the end of H...camera angle issue?
- The back of the case font doesn't seem as crisp / deep as the gen, or even the v1...not sure if this is the plastic case making things a bit fuzzier?
WMDQDuT.jpg

- The lume seems weak vs. the gen and the v1...does this watch need reluming to make it superlume? The lume also seems a bit more yellow / green than the v1 and the gen.

Phew, that was my stab at QC. I appreciate any thoughts on (a) where I got it wrong, (b) whatever issues I'm missing, and (c) whether or not this super rep passes QC. Nonetheless, it's a gorgeous looking rep and I look forward to having this hefty beast on my wrist. Thanks!

The small things you're pointing out have nothing to do with QC. If any, they are related that this isn't a genuine watch, just a replica. You should accept the watch.

Got it, thanks for clarifying the role of QC. Generally this watch is a super rep (although maybe just a 1st class offering compared to the v1 which may be the true super rep) so I'm just trying to avoid a complete dud.

On the font color being possibly a bit lighter, I think that's tied to the rep to your point. What isn't a rep thing is the number / bezel alignment if I'm correct. Would appreciate a pair of eyes on that, or if it's normal to need to take a rep to a watch smith with every order?

A very good review of the watch, but yeah those are definitely not QC points. The 5's are better on the v2 than the v1 otherwise the v1 is better in all of the categories you have mentioned there, but getting a v1 is nigh on impossible now.

It's still a super rep, your expectations are far too high there.

I'm late here, but I really think you should refuse/return the watch and buy a gen. Reps are def not for you.

Anyway, this watch passed my QC with no doubts.

Honestly, I don't quite get your line of thinking. I appreciate the earlier feedback that certain things (e.g., color being slightly too light on the font) not being part of QC because they're a feature of the rep. Makes sense for me, and as someone new to the forum it was a helpful tip to understand what the boundary is regarding rep issues vs. poor product manufacturing.

But I feel like it's a no brainer when you're spending 400 - 500 a rep and buying a lot of them, a minimum standard of (a) things are generally working and (b) they're taking care of basic essentials like lining up a number on the face. Seriously, even $50 Fossils have enough QC to generally take care of these issues. I was just trying to get a second perspective (given the anxiousness of it being my first rep) that the basics were addressed, in particular the numbers being aligned. And they generally are (except maybe I'll need to tweak the 1 in the 12 via modding, will see in person), after getting a confirmatory picture.

I was also assessing the build, because I ultimately want to contribute to forums similar to what ALE does for PAMs--I notice there aren't guides like that on any of the other brands, except maybe Rolex.

I've already accepted, and I chose very specific reps for a reason--because a gen-like feel is valuable to me. I got gen PP/AP/rolexes because certain engineering and feel makes the "value" personally incrementally worth it. For a BB BF and a PAM on the other hand...they're seriously within 1 - 5% even with both in hand.

Regardless, thanks for the opinion. As per your note, TripDog, I'll make sure my TD feels I'm worth his time via volume and occasional tips haha.

If you read more you will see that the tilted dial is a common issue with the BPFF replicas.
Mine was much more than yours. It is up to you, If you can live with it there is no need to modding. But ususally it junps to your eyes every time you look to the watch.

I had to reotate the entire dial, easier than messing with the numbers.

Search for BPFF crooked dial.

I found your thread Tatagiba and it was very helpful. Appreciate the heads up! I'll see what I need to do when I finally have it in hand...hopefully it's just the picture and my TD is using some judgment as well on quality. We'll see if my TD is actually trustworthy ;)

That being said, one of the lessons here is I should have considered the No Radiation version a bit more. The lack of numbers I didn't expect would have simplified the margin for error even more! If only I could put up with that bright no radiation icon[emoji14]

I think everything looks fine on your watch,
With regards to your particular watch, the distortion from curvature of the crystal and the rounded sapphire bezel along with the watch being angled a degree or two off center, combine to make it difficult to tell if everything is aligned.
It's impossible to discern the accuracy of the bezel color from a pic. Too many variables in light, post processing, your monitor etc. That said, it looks near enough. And the same goes for color/brightness in the lume shot. I've taken pics of mine that vary massively between green and white. Back side engravings and spacing of "antimagnetic" also looks good.
I think once you have it in hand you'll be very pleased, V1 or V2, both are amazing

Always appreciate a more expert perspective. I can't wait to receive mine :)

everything looks fine except the 12 marker. Either the 1 is off or the 2 is off. I had rejected my QC because of the exact same issue.

I got mine delivered today with a perfect 12. I just opened her up because it had some dust particles in there which I cleaned up and now its perfect.

@Leverage Some people were on you about your nitpickiness in the QC... but I have to say, if you can use that power to write guides and comparisons with gens for new releases, people will probably LOVE you for it. :)
