Breitling Aeromarine Chrono Avenger
Stainless Steel fantasy version from TWP
chrono-avenger-01.jpg

Recently, I came second in a raffle here on RWI. The Watch Prince (A US-based dealer here on RWI) had added two quartz watches as a second prize and these were to be my bounty. However, TWP knows my feelings on quartz reps and offered me store credit in their place, which I decided to put towards a lumpy Breitling chronograph I saw he had on offer. Not knowing much about it (was it a small Super Avenger or a steel Chrono Avenger?), I spoke with my Breitling expert buddies Andreww and By-Tor, who both thought it was a Chrono Avenger fantasy version.

This turned out to be the case, and I checked the quality of the replication and saw that it was not bad at all, even if the genuine Chrono Avenger was only available in titanium. This makes it a fantasy replica, which I don't object to when it's a model that should exist, much like the Rolex GMT-LV I've got.

How close is the dial? I did this little animation to check. Gen from the Breitling site on the blue background, rep on the red.

Not bad at all, apart from it has the regular rep lume and the wrong date font.

In the next picture, I've put it next to my Steelfish to show the lack of AR and the size comparison. It's about the same size, but a lot deeper. This is a tall watch.

Case back? Looks like a regular caseback to me. Any experts want to weigh in?

The bracelet it was delivered on is the old "Professional" style (bottom on the picture below). I don't know if I'll ever wear it on this as I much prefer it on the leather I got with my Steelfish.

Here's how it looks on the wrist.

Here's your glory shot, available in 1280px wide if you click it. :D

Nice clear pics. I found myself staring at that animation till I was nearly hypnotized. There are some things that actually look better on the rep for instance the 15 at 3 oclock and the 45 at 9 look better than the gen, at least to me. Real nice comparison shots.

That is really nice watch... and great pics, as usual.

I like the stainless version much more than the Ti. Same thing with the Seawolf, never liked it much although the rep was quite awesome... but Steelfish does it for me.

PS: Linked to the Breitling Guide.

very nice! i think the ss goes well with the white dial.

there's a new avenger sealand coming out, same specs as the ti chrono avenger but in ss and with a different dial. :)

just wondering..does the pro2 bracelet from the steelfish fit the CA?

The endlinks are different. The Tin Haddock has a curved case between the lugs and the Chrono Avenger is flat.

I suspect the endlinks can be swapped though. :D

Yes, they are. See the seconds-at-nine that's not pointing straight up while the big second hand is at 12?

The chronos work and reset very well.

So, it's a 7750 inside ?
I got confused by the story of Quartz rep :)
Indeed I'm looking for a Breitling Quartz Chrono (see, all tastes on these boards ;) )
This one isn't obviously.

The reasons for that strange request are very simple :
- price
- reliability (I know... )

For now, I have always bought auto/manual winding for simple watches and Quartz for chronos...
1 exception : a PP with the ST-019 from Seagull.

I saw this from Andrew, but it's :
- unavailable for now
- has a Yachymeter in place of the Tachymeter

Great post--beautiful watch. My dream watch is a Breitling Aerospace but I do not think there is a rep of that version.
