PT5000 Movement Question

Hello Members,

How difficult would be to install a PT5000 movement replacing a Miyota 8215 movement/ Rep .

I understand the Dial feet would have to be removed and replace with dial Dots .
The Miyota date wheel overlay will also have to be installed on the PT5000.

Is it possible to swap or just buy a new watch ?

To swap an 8215 for an ETA clone a better choice would be a 2836.

The stem height on a 2824 clone is too different - 8215 is 2.5mm, 2824 is 1.8mm, 2836 is 2.25mm

An even better choice wound be a DG2813, which is also 2.5mm. I believe the dial feet positions are also the same for 8215 and 2813. Also the hands hole sizes would be the same.

Stem height governs vertical alignment for the movement stem hole and the tube. You can deviate a little and make it work but not more than .25mm or so.

Thank you I would like to perhaps contact the forums watch maker if he or she is in the USA , and see what’s the charge t for the modification.

Yes that will work as far as the stem height. The dial feet positions are different and will have to be modded. Also the hands hole sizes are different. The Miyota minute hand hole can be crimped (reduced) and the second hand hole broached (increased) but this requires some careful work that is not always a great success. A set of ETA hands would be preferable.

I noticed that movement comes with a day date wheel, do I have to remove the DAY wheel for this mod ? If so what is the process?

You can leave the day wheel if you don't want to mess with it. If you want to take it off there is a little 3/4 circle clip (circlip) on the center post that you just pull away with a tiny screwdriver or sturdy tweezers.
