The Black Bay Bronze is one of those watches that, whether intentionally or not, serves as a reminder that nowadays, a lot of us find it hard to settle down and make a commitment to That One Special Watch. The whole point of the Black Bay Bronze, I think, is to watch it gradually change, from one day to the next. Seeing the patina on the bronze slowly begin to darken the original, almost milky-gold hue of the bronze of the case is an enormous pleasure, taken one day to the next.

The KW (V6) factory's V2 Black Bay Bronze is a remarkable achievement of getting the rep one step closer to the geninue article. I have the opportunity to see the rep side by side with a gen:

From the side, the case is spot on, the curve and the engraving on the crown are the same as gen. Even the quality of the strap is almost the same as the gen. We can see the colour of the rep is a little bit off, this is because the gen has a coat of patina already. The case of the rep is new. But the longer it is worn, the rep will become more gen-looking. The case of the V2 Black Bay Bronze uses alloy cooper, which will enable the case to age in time.

You guys can ignore the Chinese in the photo, all markers and numbers are in correct shape, size and colour. This is truly amazing workmanship from KW (V6) factory. We all know that for many subs, the bezel number shape are sometime not the same as gen, for example, number 5, this could be a tell quite easily. For Black Bay Bronze, everything is spot on, even the distance between markers and numbers are the same.

The feel of the rep on hand is very smooth, like you are holding a new born baby - silky. Bezel rotate crisp and smooth.

The shape of the domed plexi crystal is also the same as per gen. I cannot resist the feel of the domed crystal, the feeling is almost sexualised. You get a strange yet familar arousal when you looking at the watch from different angles, you just want to hold it and then put it on your wrist and walk away, of course, The KW (V6) factory's guy stopped me.

I hope you enjoy this short review. I was impressed by the workmanship and quality of the new V2 and there is not much to talk about the differences between the rep and the gen, because there isn't any.

Thanks for the review.

I got v1 and my friend got gen. I can not tell the difference at all when it comes to the case. Both when it comes to patina and overall shine/feel.
Will definitely stay on my v1 because I don't want to fix something that isn't broken:)

The difference on the v1 and gen was the bronze/copper case that made them age differently. As they seem to have fixed this on the v2 there is no need to buy the gen. I own a gen BB stainless steel and the reps are almost to good to justify owning the gen.

I have the v1 and it looks exactly like the your actual gen vs rep pics...especially with a little patina, there is no telling apart

Still think v1 color/patina is spot on (especially based on the actual comparison pics shared above)...oh well :)

It has a more "cloudy" patina (same bronze as ex. Pam 382) than the bb that has a more "even" patina. Actually the rep (v1) blend look better :)

But on the v2 the dial font isn't 3d enough and the pearl is off as well...

Great comparison! Thanks! But what about the ZF new release? Did you have a chance to compare both gens?
Best regards,

@Trevor, do you happen to have another comparative dial shot? The minute and hour hand lume color is definitely different than the hour markers in rep but I'm not sure if this is the case for the gen also. Some gen pics make it look like all of them are same and some (under different lighting) show that hour and. I hate hand to be a tad darker. Any input from your side would be much appreciated
