Problem fitting new strap

I've never experienced this before so I thought I'd ask for some opinions.

I've just fitted a new strap to a 563 KW.

The long side of the strap fitted perfectly but the leather on the short side (where the tube and screw go) is too thick between the screw and the case and it was a real PITA to line up the screw and get it into the threaded lug. The strap ended up a bit scraped from the sharp bottom edge of the case but it's only a cheappie so no major harm done. I'm starting to think I'm going to have to sand away a bit of leather which will ruin the strap's finish.

Has anyone had this problem before? Any suggestions?

The strap is too thick. Get a dremel with adjustable speeds. Put in a coarse tiny bit and turn it on low while holding down the tail of the strap tight. That way it removes a little leather on the inside. That way you don't have to shave the outside of the strap.

I think it's too late for that. LOL.

Thanks for the suggestion COLDI.

I don't have a dremel but I did manage to ream out the inside of the strap with a couple of sharp drill bits held by hand.

It made a big difference. Thanks for the tip.

I'll know better next time!

May I ask who the maker is?

And COLDI gave a good solution to the problem.
