Hello guys, just recieved a UPO from a dealer on here, Im impressed with the watch itself, the weight and overall feel and look wow- wow--wow, it looks great if you are over 50cm away (God only Knows what that is to the US guys still using inches lol), I do have a couple of biiiig (to me) issues though, and you experts can hlep me with this cos Im a noob and my last Rep was a 1995 Tag Haeur so Im unsure of the standard to expect (and that was ten £, this is £150 quid!). I look at the face of the watch and I immediately see small dents in the casing beneith the bezel area, along the line leading to the strap. This is my main concern, the dial also looks off centre (secondary - Im sure with adjusment t5hat could be sorted out v.quick? Even by moi?), if I showed it to my mate with his GEN Breitling, he will laugh in my face. Surely this is not 'ULTIMATE'? Is this typical? and just doesnt show on photos - Ive tried to take pics but they dont sohwn up well on thw shite old 3mp camera phone.

I feel like maybe I am being tooooo picky, but, I know the n umber of perfectionists on here and the number of threads where a gen owner has not realised that a rep has been presented to them (i.e recent Panerai thread in casino).- For me, with these flaws it is cleary a rep at first glance, and although it looks superb form x cm's away can I justify $308 dollars for this fake mother? If the above is standard with a UPO then fair enough. if not well the reviews obviously look better than the real deal

straight? To me slightly wonky. If I wanted a joe average rep, I would have bought the asian $118.

I would suggest reaching out to the dealer as well. I purchased a UPO from Ruby, ran into a few small issues and she worked it out with me. Most of the dealers who work with the board value satisfied customers more than any one sale and will work with you.

BTW .... dings in the case are not a standard, that would be worth addressing IMO. Typically the UPOs are pretty darn accurate. My biggest issue was a bad pearl and I had a new bezel insert sent to me to swap it out.

Good luck ...

Thanks for the replies guys - from what Ive read on here he seems very good customer service wise so hopefully we can sort it out without issue - I think once you buy one rep that you need another and another ( I wont be telling the wife that lol) so it would be repeat custom for him as long as things run smoothly. Just really disappointed with the dings :(

Hey Speed ... I do understand the disappointment. Sometimes you see work that is so close to perfect that you forget that QC is not always one of the strengths of this hobby. I'm sure it will get worked out for you though ... and you're right, the reason the dealers work with you is they know that once you're hooked, they will get a lot more than 1 sale from you. :) ... Welcome to the obsession ...errrr hobby :!:

Well, it seems my dealer has come up trumps (trustytime 8) ) and he says he will send out another UPO for me :D , I sent him an email with the above pic's. I have to send the other back with a 'watch return form' but in the meantime hes getting another shipped out. Im really chuffed with the service but a bit gutted as I have to wait for it to arrive, but as they say, 'good things come to those who wait'. Hopefully it will all run smoothly.

re the QC - Yeah I understand that the QC will not always be spot on in this game but it is just typical of my 'calamity james' type luck to get one which slipped through the net lol  -

So I will wait now, with my fingers crossed for a good UPO [smilie=hello2.gif]

I hope this one comes out aces for you. Andrew is a good dealer and I have bought from him in the past. I expect you'll be happy when all is said and done. Glad it's being taken care of for you. :)

Keep in mind that many of the dealers do drop ship, meaning that they never actually see the watch you ultimately receive. That's why working with someone like Andrew (and others with the same reputation) is important because problems like you encountered will sometimes happen. You may pay a bit more, but consider it good insurance.

Thanks for the comments guys, really appreciate it. It is difficult to know how to approach things and what to expect as a newbie  . Well I have returned the above watch and Andrew has had another UPO sent out yesterday (I expect it will arrive at the begining of next week), so fingers crossed :D . I will report back when it arrives :D

Well guys, I recieved my replacement UPO today from trusty
spma0136tr5.jpg
- Im well pleased with it - no dings like the last one :D , so fairplay to Andrew for getting me another watch sent out and restoring my faith. I think the dial maybe be slightly wonky on this watch also (but in the opposite direction to the other one - counterclockwise in this case (opinions would be appreciated  ) it is only slight though - no great shakes. I assume this is something which could be rotated ever-so-slightly (if I ever grew the balls to take the back off the watch  ?)

I think next purchase will be a birthday treat for the girlfriend, one of trustys Christian Diors look pretty good and are apparently gen! :)

Thanks for your time folks,

Paul
