Hello,
I wanted to use a President Bracelet on my DateJust with the new fluted Blue Dial. (Reference 126234).

I know the lug width for DayDate and DateJust is the same at 20mm.
Can some one please confirm if the President Bracelet from the current generation of DayDate 36mm will fit the current generation of DateJust 36mm?
I have to place an order for the Bracelet, hence the question.

Please do provide your inputs.

Thanks!

Yes the two bracelets in question are compatible between the those models with some caveats. It is never safe to assume that any bracelet (rep or gen) will properly fit any rep with the same lug width because there is no standardization among reps as to exact case shape (lug height, width, thickness, etc), or lug detent placement.

Many rep bracelets will fit nicely on reps made by different factories but it is not at all uncommon to test fit one and discover that the end link sits too high or low, or that there is an unsightly gap somewhere between the end link and the case, etc. The only way to find out for sure if your specific pieces will work together is to test fit them. If your bracelet doesn't work you can try to sell it M2M.

The other significant downside to what you are trying to do is that generally speaking rep President bracelets suck. They are not highly polished on 4 of the 6 link sides (all the inner ones). The link pieces are cut by machine and just given a token polishing or maybe nothing at all. The result is that they can be quite sharp to the touch if sliding fingers across them laterally. I have 5 or 6 of these and can attest to this personally. Another member reported actually cutting his leg with shorts on by sliding the bracelet across it in routine contact.

I spent about 6 hours polishing one bracelet down and then rebrushing the side links. On another one I just replaced the bracelet with a PCL oyster. Also rep President bracelets are very light and can feel very cheap. So all things considered I would not advise doing the swap you are suggesting. You are better off leaving well enough alone IMO.

Before - note the jagged inside edges

Thank you so much for the detailed reply!
Would you say that the newer GMF President Bracelets also have the same issues that you mentioned?

The only reason I am even considering this swap is because of the concealed clasp on the President. It just looks so much cleaner and for smaller wrists like mine, it blends in way better.

Yes I would say that what I described is still a current characteristic of GMF President bracelets. The plated ones (YG, RG) are not quite as bad since the plating acts to smooth the rough edges to a degree. But the inner link edges still are not polished first like the nice smooth two outer link outside edges.

You could try a Super jubilee, which has a concealed clasp.
