I’m sorry if I’m in the wrong place but I haven’t been able to find anything about this.
I’ve read people mention about not changing the date on a movement when the hands are somewhere around midnight.
I just wanted to know if this is factual or urban myth.
Ive got a couple reps, both with 2836 movements. I just want to make sure I don’t shorten their lives unnecessarily.

Thanks in advance

Yeah....that's around the time, midnight, when the date changes. Some damage, could occur, by changing the date with the crown if you change the date around 10 to 2 range. More potential for damage with the 7750 movement that starts the date change around 10ish. A good practice is to move the hands to 6pm...... then change the date.

Yep, the concern is the date change, if engaged, there is risk you can damage it. even the gens tell you not to change the date during this time.

With any rep movements (including 2824-2, SH 3135/3132), I don't manually change the dates between 6pm to 6am so that I am 100% certain that the date finger is not engaged with the teeth of the date disc.

With SH 3135/3132 movements, the date finger (i.e. part number: 3135-623) is made with a delicate piece of jewel glued onto the metal plate. Therefore, changing the date manually during the 'forbidden hours' will easily break the jewel off. Comparatively, the genuine Rolex part equivalent is made sturdier with a metal prong opposed to a jewel - this allows manual date changes during the forbidden hours
