PP 5712R-001 PPF VS. GEN comparison

Hi friends

I begged my friend to borrow me this Gen 5712R for our photographing, it took me a long time to get here！

Let’s take a quick look at the watch!


5712R from PPF is still using old movement while 5712A has updated. Beside the movement, there are some small details that also need to be updated.


The middle pinion cap, for example, was one of the most common modification requested by our clients. It’s not small enough for this model and the color is off.

The second thing I noticed was the moonphase, the color on PPF is much lighter than GEN.

And the plating is also too orange, these problems can be fixed but will cost extra money, I just wish the factory can do it for us so we wouldn’t have that much trouble

One thing I need to mention is that PP has stopped producing this model with leather straps, the warranty card was from 2019, Their dial markers have sharper edges. The versions before 2015 are more rounded, can’t say that PPF did wrong about it.

Great comparison. This is one of my top 3 favorite Pateks. The gen strap and dial are the more glaring tells. Still a solid rep.

I won't take the risk to open a new debate on reps being NWBG or not, but mechanical adjustments and tolerences wise, on this kind of watches, reps are now on paar with gens (or better !!! )
Just a tad of hand finish and one gets a wonderful watch ...
